Meet Jude David of Corridor Sixteen in North Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jude David.

Jude, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My interest in music began at a young age. My parents brought me to a Paul McCartney concert when I was two years old and, since then, all I could imagine was getting a guitar and rocking onstage. It was a struggle, in the beginning, to learn how to play guitar and write my own music. But through hours of practice, I was able to hone my skills and write several original songs. In late 2017, I established a band and broke into the music industry.

From there, I explored the Phoenix music scene, met a lot of talented musicians, and became familiar with the sound of both the underground and mainstream music. This encouraged me to do something big for my band and my music. And so, I set as our goal to produce music that will transcend social and cultural barriers, inspire others along the way, and revolutionize the independent music scene.

So far, we’ve been making great strides in achieving our goal. We recorded and released our first EP and other singles got interviewed by two local radio stations and conducted several concert performances in the Phoenix area in other cities in Arizona. Towards the end of 2018, we went on a tour through five States. Through these, as well as by keeping active on social media, we’ve been able to establish a dedicated and growing fan base. Our music has been streamed by fans in over 20 countries and counting. One of our recent singles has already garnered over 40 thousand streams. At present, we are preparing to record our second EP which will be released sometime this year (2019).

Growing up, I always had a hard time expressing myself and my thoughts to other people. But now, through music, I discovered that I’m able to connect with others emotionally on various levels.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road we’ve been on so far has been far from smooth. We encountered a lot of bumps along the way and an assortment of challenges. One struggle is getting our music out there. But we’ve been able to push through this so far. We’ve been able to promote the band and our music through several concert performances. I also stay up until around 3:00 am at times promoting our music on social media. I also have the challenge of creating and working on new songs, something else that keeps me up late at night. But I understand that this is part of the process of achieving our goals, and so, we try to have fun along the way.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Corridor Sixteen story. Tell us more about it.
My work is all about my music. I established a band, write all the songs, play lead guitar, and am the lead singer. I also play an active role in promoting the band and my music and booking show in different venues, among other things. I love playing the guitar, something our fans have taken notice of and comment on positively. I’m proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish and where I’ve been able to take the band so far. I also like the fact that we’re able to connect and interact with fans and inspire others to pursue and appreciate music at an early age. I think one of the things that set us apart from others is the uniqueness of our sound and the fact that we’ve been able to reach certain levels of success despite the challenges of being an independent band in the vast world of music.

Tell us about your favorite and least favorites things about our city.
There are many things about Phoenix that I like very much, including the music scene, the architecture, and the wide variety of food. I also like the people I’ve met. I’ve experienced a warmness from them and a welcoming atmosphere wherever I’ve gone. Honestly, the only thing I dislike about Phoenix is the scorching heat during the summer.
