Today we’d like to introduce you to Jucebox.
Hi Jucebox, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a tattoo artist in Arizona. I have a classical art background that started with painting in many different mediums! I have been tattooing for 14 years and got my start on Hollywood Blvd in California in October 2010.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not; anyone who says they had a smooth journey is a liar. I’ve encountered so many speed bumps along the way but they all have resulted in me learning and improving every chance I get. Some of the biggest struggles as a tattoo artist are just staying busy and managing yourself as a one-person army, as well as making sure to set yourself apart from the thousands of other tattooers around you.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a tattoo artist with a lot of art training in my background, I wouldn’t really say I have a specific “specialty.” I always joke and tell people I specialize in awesome tattoos, but realistically, I enjoy tattooing in many different styles. I do it all from color to black and grey. It’s probably one of the abilities I’m most proud of. It makes me dangerous in a tattoo studio because I can handle anything that comes through the door with style and grace.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up, I always enjoyed spending time painting and creating with almost anything I could get my hands on. Anything I did, I would always try to make art out of it. Some of my fondest memories are just the process of creating art and the results of time spent doing that.
