Meet Josiah Begley of Kings of Content in East Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josiah Begley.

Josiah, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My business journey honestly started when I unexpectedly landed a job while serving an engaged couple at Texas roadhouse. A wedding gig for $100/hour that included me filming and taking photos with my iPhone. I was way out of my comfort zone showing up with it as my equipment, but I had to keep reminding myself that they loved the other videos I made, so as long as they love those, then I know they’ll love what I was about to create. Plus they didn’t even have a videographer or photographer booked and didn’t plan to, so I knew I’d be solving a problem they didn’t know they had.

After going through the initial struggles that come with starting any business, I finally committed to scaling the business and built the backbone of my business on Craigslist by creating flashy taglines for my business and it’s “low investment prices.”

Eventually, I transitioned to generating business through Facebook ads. I learned a lot about how to run and test them but Eventually learned it would be wiser to trade services with someone smarter than me on the subject. Now I trade Marketing services for my videography services. I knew someone named Austin Varley who happened to be insanely talented and experienced with Facebook ads, so figured we might as well partner up and help each other and others thrive.

With that said, the journey has been and will continue to be filled with obstacles that will test my commitment to the cause, so training my mindset and expanding my awareness with the knowledge I needed was a daily or weekly ritual that became apart of who I am. Without consistent personal development, I wouldn’t have ever made it as far as I have.

Has it been a smooth road?
For me, Starting a business has been the most enlightening and freeing experience that I’ve ever had because of everything that I’ve learned but it’s definitely harder than most people expect. There are lots of passive benefits but also a lot of stress at times whenever I’ve had to adapt the business to new circumstances or have to worry about if money’s going to come in. I’d say that the journey to success seemed to get way easier once I adopted good habits like an attitude of Gratitude, eating healthy food, meditating, praying to god, and focused on creating a genuine impact for those who invest in me.

In the beginning, I was focused mainly on the money which is ultimately what every single one of us would do because we NEED it and want it, but after shifting my focus from INCOME to IMPACT, It’s like God turned the tides in my favor letting me know that I was on the right track. I’ve spent 1000’s of hours on my craft, so just like everyone in my industry, I charged anywhere between $2000-$5000 for Video productions and even though I got business, I just didn’t feel enthusiastic about selling my services because I felt like I wasn’t making much impact for how much they were paying. That’s when I adapted and made a shift.

After reading the books Blitzscaling and Disrupt You, I decided to begin what would be an inevitable disruption to the video production industry. Commercial quality film shoots cost $6,000+ and I knew that If I could find a way to provide Productions at that quality, that was way more simple and fast for the clients and only cost hundreds at scale then I know that I would create massive impact in this world especially for small businesses that can’t afford to pay thousands of dollars for hopeful results.

The first client that joined the subscription service that we offer has already upgraded once and plans to for a second time after only four months. With all of the struggles I’ve endured and plan to endure, I’m just making sure to always ADAPT and find ways I can create more impact on people’s lives.

My Business is called Kings of Content, and The slogan is, “Hollywood Productions at Wholesale Prices.” My company specializes in creating highly entertaining and engaging videos for influencers, marketers and business owners at prices that are guaranteed to be the lowest for what you get. I feel like the city is one of the best places to start a video production company because of how many businesses there are that need to get attention.

If someone were just starting out in my industry though, I would definitely recommend starting online as an editor for other videographers or businesses that have the content already because that can be done from home thus saving massive amounts of time on the commute and also allowing you to do business anywhere in the world with just your phone and the apps it has available.
