Meet Joshua Oldridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Oldridge.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Joshua. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As long as I can remember, I have had a connection with animals, especially dogs. Growing up, we always had a dog in the house. At the age of eight years old I was attacked by the next door neighbor’s dog. Not only had it done life lasting physical damage but a damaging mental impression. I soon realized in order to overcome I had to forgive. Through my upbringing, I was taught to face situations head-on and not run from them. This incident sparked an immediate urge to learn more about dogs and their personalities. I began to read everything I could about dogs. This not only expanded my knowledge on triggers and personalities of each breed but helped strengthen my passion for pets, specifically dogs.

Each time I look in the mirror I am reminded of the horrific incident I experienced early on in age. This lasting impression has been the catalyst for me to showcase dogs in a different light. I believe my purpose in life is to be the voice of all dogs, and through my photography, I’m able to be that voice and inspire others to do the same. This is why my favorite pastime is to highlight dogs needing a second chance at love and life. I partner with several animal welfare organizations donating my time to position adoptable pets in the best light, specifically those who are hard to place. I’m proud to say that I’ve experienced great success in helping place several pets in their forever home. I initially got started in pet photography after my late husband had passed away from lung cancer in 2017. I needed a change. I needed to live in a way that meant something. I switched careers from hair styling to photography.

During the time my late husband was diagnosed and sick I stayed home to care for him. This not only gave me time to think about how important it is to do what you love but to help the world in some way. I soon started my business after he had passed. It was and is my outlet. I also then unexpectedly fell in love, again. I continued my journey of change and moved from Illinois to Arizona not only to follow my career but also my heart. I can happily say I am now engaged and have the best partner in life to not only help me remember and honor my late husband but to support me in my business of pet photography and animal rescue advocacy. My fiancé interestingly enough manages the pet adoption program for PetSmart of North America and Canada, so both of our careers go hand in hand. I love my life.
