Meet Joshua Joe of Line ‘Em Up Custom Cuts in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Joe.

Joshua, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
First started cutting when I was young in my hometown for family/friends fr my neighborhood Brannen Homes. After high school, I was working for a wheel and tire company and had decided that was not what I wanted to do with my life. I always had a passion for hair but also had a passion to cook. Deciding between the two, I chose to go to school to cut hair. The week I completed school, my sister was murdered by her boyfriend. I became so lost after that. After almost a year of grieving, I had decided to do something for my sister. She was always talking about my cuts to everyone and how I was the best. I didn’t realize the support she really had for me until she was gone. It was then when I decided to set a goal to open a shop for her! For two years, I worked full time during the day and did house calls. The time and sacrifice it was to me and my fiancé and kids was extremely hard. I was not making much money and was spending a lot of time on the road away from my family. We stood together and before you know I was able to save up and afford a small studio. I ran in to an old friend from the last and found out he was a Sports Agent. He took my card and the rest is hostiry. I now serve majority professional athletes current and retired. It is still the beginning. My sister would be proud but I want to make her even more proud.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. My sister was murdered. Sacrifices on my fiancé and kids. Not getting paid a lot of money. Risking quitting my job to open the studio with very little money.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a Cosmetologist/Stylist. I specialize in men’s and children’s cuts with cuts, designs, and color. I am most proud that I was able to open it. Wha sets me apart from others is the relationship I have with my clients. They start as clients but for almost all of them, they leave apart of my Line ‘Em Up Family. I and my family appreciate the time and opportunity.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was all about sports. School was just there but loved playing basketball and football. I was always different from everyone. I was around a lot of bad stuff but always strong enough to stay away from it. I was a hit head and had to learn to control myself. I did get onto some trouble and had to find out the hard way. I have grown so much from then on.
