Meet Josephiene of Hello Silhouette in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josephiene .

Josephiene , let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After High school in 2011 I needed something to occupy my time during summer break; however I didn’t know what I wanted to do! That was until I went on Pinterest one afternoon and repined this super cute outfit from blogger Rachel of Pink Peonies. I went to her blog and after seeing all the gorgeous outfits she had put together I said to myself how hard could this be taking pictures and posting about them? TOO EASY! I then created my first official blog: Josie’s Fashion Diaries! I posted a lot of content from Website Wednesday’s (featured my favorite other bloggers of the week) to Friday Favorites (as an avid online shopper I browsed a lot of clothes so I would post them there!) I also loved to DIY -making my own nail polish, to making vintage jean shorts and more! I would then continue posting on my blog and Instagram for the next year and a half. I am not absolutely sure why I stopped blogging but sadly I did. Fast forward to January 2014, after a really bad breakup I decided to focus my energy into another blog. I missed sharing my love for fashion and all things creative, so I decided to create my second blog: Match My Closet. My goal for MMC was for anyone to be able to recreate my looks at any price! I also wanted to make an app that was also called Match My Closet! (I would tell you what it entails but I don’t want y’all to know all my secrets! Haha) but after talking to an app expert, he said that what I wanted would be really expensive, so I shied away from the idea, however it’s always on my mind! MMC lasted for about 8 months until I started working 2 jobs (1st one as a preschool teacher and the second as muse at Kate Spade) and had more of a social life at 21! While working at my Kate Spade one day I had a customer tell me that I looked so cute and I should start a fashion blog! (Little did she know that I’ve had 2 already!) We started talking and I found out that she was a fashion blogger herself: Jolene at Boardroom Blonde and I went on to intern for her! While interning for her, she really encouraged me to think about starting another blog! A few months passed of interning for Jolene and one day I decided to put names together for a third blog that would eventually turn out to be Hello Silhouette! Hello Silhouette was intended to be solely a fashion blog, but as time went on, I started becoming interested in pretty much everything. Hello Silhouette has since transitioned to a Life, Style and Travel blog! Since 2015 I have had multiple ups and downs with Hello Silhouette, and it has DEFINITELY not been easy, but I have to say it has been my most successful blog yet and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Right now Hello Silhouette is a side hustle on top of me working a full time job, babysitting 13 families, and trying to having a social life so trying to stay consistent is one of my biggest challenges! However one of my biggest obstacles is every few months I go through this period where I’m in a blogging drought! I don’t want to blog, I don’t want to go to events, I don’t want to post on Instagram, and I really just don’t want to do anything! Overcoming these types of obstacles can be hard. If this is currently happening to you too, take a break from everything! There is nothing wrong with having a few days to yourself to re-fresh!

Hello Silhouette – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Life + Style + Travel Blogger! On my blog I talk about trends, what to do, where to eat, what hair care products I’m using and more! I’m known for throwing fun networking parties for bloggers and laughing a lot! The one thing that I am most proud of would have to be in 2017 I was recognized as 10 Metro Phoenix Fashion Bloggers to Follow on Instagram by Phoenix New Times! It was a total surprise, but the recognition felt amazing!

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
The proudest moment so far would have to be working with Goodwill! I got to create outfits from clothing from their store and mix it with clothing I had! We also had a shopping event where Goodwill lovers could shop their favorite bloggers clothing racks! It was such a huge turnout; even a news channel came out!! When I was a kid, for fun my grandmother and I would ALWAYS thrift shop and make cute outfits together. I really cherished spending time with her that way! To this day we still thrift shop! When I was able to work with Goodwill, my grandmother came along and we had such a fun time together! I’ll be working with them in the near future, so be on the lookout for that!!
