Meet Jordyinadaze

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordyinadaze.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m originally from Youngstown, Ohio & moved to Phoenix when I was nine so I’ve been here for some time. I played basketball, modeled, acted, wrote music/poetry & sang in the choir. I always had a deep love for music, sounds, art, & just creative outlets but, I couldn’t really express in the field I was in until I quit basketball my senior year of high school to get serious with music. Why that time I don’t really know but I think it’s because I knew if I went to college, I would’ve been in the worst mind state. It’s just not for everybody. So my mom was like ok if you’re going to quit & stay here you need to get a job & I need to see some growth in six months. I made my first song in September 2016.

It’s on YouTube called “Thank God”. My friend Randy got it in the hands of some old friends in NY & by Christmas I was out there going back and forth every two weeks almost. What was going on wasn’t the best situation for my friends and I so we packed it up and went to my to khriistiangrey’s (one of my friends that came to NY as well) house in Lawndale, California. I eventually went back to Phoenix and saved up until I was able to move in with my brother khriistiangrey. He taught me how to engineer myself and I worked tirelessly to learn the actual technical side of music. I have a very specific different sound so I was detailed and precise when learning. I also started singing A LOT more. Like all day everyday and I seen the improvement over time.

Before the Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, etc. era it wasn’t cool for a kid like me to sing and model so I always pushed my blessings second, but in Lawndale I really broke out of that shell. Shoutout YouTube. I started recording demos after getting the hang of it and sending them to friends and other colleagues. It was really bad but they saw the vision it just wasn’t clear yet. Eventually, I couldn’t afford LA anymore so I moved back to Phoenix to show my city what I’ve really been working on. Linked up with Rich J Kid once I got back, started making music & it just piled up. Once we dropped the reception was great. So yeah that’s the short version.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I want to quit everyday HAHA, I’m bipolar so sometimes I just need to breathe from it & evaluate myself. It gets frustrating but I was blessed with Kobe’s Mentality so I’m going to get it by any means. Period. I was born a winner and a hard worker so anything I want is already mine. I just gotta get to that time in which I receive it. I have really bad anxiety, depression, and a bunch of other things that make me lose my mind all day but music is very therapeutic when dealing with that stuff. In my lyrics I’m very honest. Everything that’s said has been done. All in all, I stay focused on the goal and know I’m walking in my purpose. No matter how long it takes when I make it will be perfect timing, God’s timing. When I get sad, I listen to Lana Del Rey, let my emotions out to release them from my body, and then move onto what’s next.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Well, I’m an artist. Mainly sing & rap but think of JORDY the person more of a brand than JORDYINADAZE, that’s just my music name. I specialize in hits, wardrobe, & creativity. I would like to just be labeled as a mogul. I’m proud of how versatile I am with everything I do. I truly have no lane at all, I can and will do whatever I want and choose too. There’s no limit to where this can go. I challenge myself daily to try and do new things I’ve never done to find out what I’m now capable of. I’m not afraid to fail by any means, I will be pushing boundaries and creating the appropriate conversations that need to be addressed. Like a superhero, they’re just here for the people whenever they need them.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Probably trips to Vegas for basketball with my teammates. Those will stay between God, them & I.
