Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Gray.
Jordan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Visual Attitudes is a clothing line that originated on the beautiful beaches of Indian Rocks, just outside Tampa, Florida. Spring break was approaching, and I decided to go visit my aunt, Victoria Goode. She is the founder and visionary down in Florida. While relaxing on the beach, my Aunt Victoria asked me if I wanted to join her in a business venture. I agreed to tag along for the journey, in which I specifically focus on marketing and branding for Visual Attitudes
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
To be honest, starting this business has been anything but smooth. We are an e-commerce business that aspires to sell our clothing in stores, which should be taking place in the near future. Building an online brand is one of the hardest obstacles I have come across. It takes consistent innovation, self-teaching, and determination. Some struggles include the lack of capital and resources, but where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Please tell us about Visual Attitudes.
Visual Attitudes is a fashion brand that sells unique, custom printed active wear designed by Victoria Goode, the founder and artist. Victoria has a long history in the art community and hopes to inspire others to let their creativity flow. Our clothing is eco-friendly and represents unity, sustainable design, and constant innovation. When I think about how far our brand has come, I am very thankful to have a supportive community. Having a group of people that continuously follows our brand is a surreal feeling. I will never take the exposure and attention our brand has created for granted. When we first created our Instagram and Facebook accounts, we had very few likes, followers, and interactions. Over time, that number has consistently increased. Seeing the brand continuously progressing has been amazing and very motivating. There are a variety of factors that set us apart from other brands, but the one that truly resonates with me is that every product is printed and hand-sewn in Montreal, Canada. The fabric we use was developed exclusively for us and is made by a local Montreal mill. All our stretch fabrics feature an EcoPoly fiber, which is considered eco-friendly since it requires significantly less energy and water use during manufacturing.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The quality or characteristic I believe is most associated with success is discipline. You must have the discipline to meet deadlines. You must have the discipline to respond to customer service complaints. It takes discipline to stay focused and motivated through the obstacles that may arise while trying to get your business off of the ground. If you are disciplined and determined, you can achieve anything. If I had to start over, I would do it the same way. I’ve learn to embrace the ups and downs that come with running a business and as long as your actions constantly match your ambition, your headed down the right path.
