Meet Jordan Anderson of Jay Vivid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Anderson.

Jordan, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am from California, born and raised in and all around the San Fernando Valley, throughout Los Angeles. I moved to Arizona after the birth of my daughter, Annabelle. I had just graduated from school, entering the medical field as a surgical technician and with these new skills, I began working for Barnet, Dulaney, Perkins eye surgery center. With this new job, I was able to move my family to Arizona for a new start. Now that was almost six years ago and things have changed, but the goal to improve and become better than I am is still the mission.

I have experienced having to move and relocate four times in my six years here in Arizona. Currently, I am working in the main OR at John C. Lincoln trauma hospital. This job has now lead me to a position to finally afford a two-bedroom place in hopes of having my daughter live with me more often. On this journey, I have dedicated myself to working on fitness and my mental health. All this self-work has led to new opportunities, such as my passion for photography, which I am currently looking to expand past a hobby and into a business of my own. Through this new adventure, I have had to reach out of my comfort zone and just get out there and network, even if I felt unsure. I signed up for a Phoenix photography meet up for all models and photographers. Right out of the gate, everyone that was a part of the group was welcoming and happy to give tips. The sense of community was amazing to feel and be apart of. The name of my photography business is Jay Vivid and I am on a mission to make this my full-time career. I absolutely love photography and the ability to create art with others. On top of this new goal of mine, I wish to help motivate others to live a healthier and more self-aware lifestyle.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road never seems easy and the obstacles seem to come and go. The past few years, I have lost custody to my daughter to her mother, who moved to California, making my relationship with my daughter very difficult. To make matters worse my daughter’s mother wishes to replace me with her new husband as my daughter’s father. The struggle of not being able to afford a lawyer like her newfound husband, now trying to deal and accept this as my new life has been mentally challenging and stressful.

On top of this fact, I was living between homes and having to travel to California on the weekends to see my daughter. The financial burden of this was draining, but I continue to strive to reach independence. Working through this pandemic has changed life as we know it. Even with this drawback, I still strive to create and look for new opportunities. Financially we are all hurting, but hopefully, we can come together as a community and grow stronger from this shared problem. I am one to look at every challenge and obstacle as a way to grow and build from.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a surgical technician. I specialize in trauma and Ortho specialties. I work at John c Lincoln hospital full time. I have started to create my photography brand Jay Vivid photography. I have always loved taking pictures and editing them, creating what I felt was art. With this passion for photography, I decided to jump in and go for it. I want to specialize in creative portrait and fashion photography. I am open to all styles of photography, willing to learn and create at the core of my passion. I have begun to build a home studio but currently unable to have clients due to the quarantine, but I have still been able to create amazing photos outside using different landscapes and lighting. My mission is to create art through photography and have People fall in love with my art.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I can’t say I have one favorite memory as a child, but the memories with my siblings around. As an adult, my family is spread out and the distance between us continue to grow the absence of my family makes me cherish those family memories more.
