Meet Jonathan Rojas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Rojas.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
It all started in 2003, during my first year in the US Air Force, stationed in Tucson, AZ. I purchased a brand new Canon ZR65 Mini DV camcorder to film my best friend’s version of MTV Cribs to film a comedy spoof of our humble military dorm room. I took this camera on every road trip, especially to San Diego to film friends doing wheelies down the 805 on motorcycles. It was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. I used iMovie to produce highlight reels of the weekend incorporating hard cut transitions to each hi-hat and beat. Taking inspiration from music video editing, I was hooked.

Please tell us about your art.
I’ve been blessed with an opportunity to inspire others to do what they love wholeheartedly. After graduating with an Industrial Design degree from ASU, an MBA in marketing from GCU, and about three years working my second corporate job, I resigned over 17 months ago to pursue J Rojas Media independently.  Short videos turned into wedding videos. Weddings turned into coffee shop/small business ads. Small business videos evolved into producing commercial-lifestyle advertising for startups, big brands, and corporate companies.

From branding, web design, commercial photo and video production, my passion has evolved into a full-service multi-media production company. I love being the extension of a company’s vision to help them succeed.  I want to be the bridge to help inspire and connect brands with their audience through compelling visual storytelling.

What do you think about the conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
The conditions for artists today have an incredible opportunity to connect with the world with the advancement of social media. However, it is just as challenging to promote your work because it’s such a vast platform. Stay true to yourself, go out and create meaningful, intentional relationships, do what you love and have fun!

Cities like ours can advocate artists by continuing to support efforts like First Fridays, public markets, 1 Million Cups, RAW artists, and various community events.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
