We started making veggie burgers at home from one of the most nutritious versatile true superfoods on the planet, kale. These vitamin K rich, fiber bombs were juicy delicious and, well they were green….which, commercially, was confusing on a bun. So we added a bunch of local Tepary beans, roasted veggies and whole grains and certified a kitchen to produce them in and called it Tepa. Flagstaff based Diablo Burger, Mama Burger and then the Yavapai Lodge in the Grand Canyon were our first customers over seven years ago, and they are all still serving it. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While we’ve struggled to make a name for high quality 100% protein options made from vegetables, nothing compares to the realities we are all facing today, in the midst of the COVID crisis. We are all struggling on so any levels that we found customers were reaching out more than ever to encourage us to make NexVeg available directly, while their favorite foodservice venues are also dealing with uncertainty. Shipping frozen food from and around AZ was a challenge that we are solving. On nexveg.com, we are adding various delivery agents (two already for the Valley) that stock NexVeg and deliver it directly to your home in 1/2 lb and 1 lb patty stacks.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about NexVeg – what should we know?
People are really confused by food. Whether it is a fad diet or personal preferences choosing what to eat and why is getting more and more complicated. The good thing is, it doesn’t have to be so tricky. There’s one rule for all basic urban food decision making that holds true above all others.

If you can’t guarantee being really lucky every day, than the entrepreneurial quality that is most important is persistence.
