Meet Jonathan Budwig of Budwig Team at Realty ONE Group in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Budwig.

Jonathan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After a 14 year career in the restaurant industry, I knew there was something bigger that I needed to do. I loved bringing joy to people’s lives daily whether it was as simple as a great cup of coffee or creating an environment where you could bring your family to enjoy a night out for a great experience from beginning to end. Restaurants were my passion, but again, I just felt there was something bigger I could do to have a greater impact on people’s lives.

Real estate seemed like the perfect fit for so many reasons, so I immediately called on my dad, Herb Budwig to help me leap out of restaurants and into Real Estate. My dad started investing in Real Estate in 2003 and by 2012 he not only was a seasoned investor but also one of the Valley’s top Luxury Residential agents. Together we started working and I would assist my dad with any task needed, big or small. In that first year, I successfully oversaw seven residential sales on my own, while still assisting my dad with some of his Luxury clients. My Real Estate career was starting to look promising.

Between 2012 to 2015 I started understanding what it meant to be a Residential Realtor and the impact my “day-to-day” job had on people’s lived. This was my big first lesson in real estate, “I don’t just sell houses, I sell homes to people that have busy lives, kids, pets & family members all depending on a safe roof over their heads at night.” Also, by this time two more agents had joined us and we were now a team of four.

With over 100 transactions between us and a growing team, the next step for us was to position ourselves with a brokerage that not only had our back but one that could take us and our team to the next level. We found that Brokerage to be Realty ONE Group, so in February 2015 the four of us joined Realty ONE Group and the Budwig Team was officially formed.

Since our move to Realty ONE Group, we have grown to 15 Agents, a Transaction Manager and a Marketing Manager. We close almost 100 homes a year now and this year (2019) should break $45,000,000 in total team sales.

My days look a little different than they used to back in 2012 when it was just me and my dad, but the reward of not only having an impact on the clients we serve every day but now the lives of our team members are the reason I love to do what I do. To be in Real Estate you have to be a “people person”, and that not only means that you can talk to people, but I feel it means giving back to the people around you and not expecting anything in return.

I feel lucky that I get to still work with my dad every day running our team and serving our clients together.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The hardest part about doing what I do is getting started. It’s scary when you first get into real estate. You second guess a lot of what you do and hope that people will trust you and call on your services again. Confidence grows with each transaction, and at some point, you find a rhythm and comfort with what you do.

Located in McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale our team specializes in Residential Real Estate for the majority of Maricopa County. We pride ourselves on great service and communication. Run by Father & Son Duo Herb and Jonathan Budwig, we are not your normal Real Estate Team. When you work with us you become part of the family.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I’ve always had a creative side and I just remember the support that I was always given by my family. At the age of nine I remember drawing my first hotel where every room would have a pool table, fish tank and a view. I used to draw cars and my favorite activity was re-organizing/moving around my room to make it more efficient. My parents, grandparents and all my family never told me to stop. They always encouraged me to follow my passions and I still get that kind of support from them today.
