Meet John Werking

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Werking.

John, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In high school, I had a real connection to music like no other. Sure, we all really connect to music in high school, going through our teenage years, but my connection was extremely different. During my sophomore year, I applied for a trade school in Tempe called Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. After graduating high school, I attended the trade school and began my journey into music in anyway I could. Today I am an Open Format DJ. DJing weddings, corporate parties, clubs, bars and pools around the valley. On top of that, traveling outside of Arizona when I can to attend DJ events and perform among side of my DJ friends.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Over the years, I have had my fair share of struggles. Learning the business, discovering that some of those around you don’t want you to succeed, finding out who your real friends and enemies are. Everyday I wake up and tell myself, “if it were going to be easy, everyone would be doing it”. That motivates me to continue on even when I fail and get back up.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Since graduating from CRAS, I have established myself as a DJ and audio engineer around the valley. No matter what type of event I am attending, I bring the best service that I can bring.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I would say that I have always wanted to be creative in some fashion but never knew how I would show my creativity. It wasn’t until I was in high school that I discovered that music was going to be my art and I would show others how I would express myself.
