Today we’d like to introduce you to John Scappatura.
John, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started with American Golf 16 years ago, then in 1994 worked for ClubCorp in London, managing four courses in the United Kingdom. I returned to the U.S. to work at The Woodlands golf club in Houston and then in September of 2017, I joined Arcis Golf.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a great road. I have been blessed to be associated with so many great clubs. London, for example, was a fantastic experience. And now with Arcis Golf, I get to work with the management teams at 14 courses in Arizona, Nevada and California. This allows me the opportunity to assure service levels meet or exceed the Arcis Golf standard, as well as expand the golf and lifestyle amenities and direct exclusive programming that will further broaden the appeal of each club.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Arcis Golf – what should we know?
Arcis Golf started in 2015 and now is the second-largest owner and operator of golf facilities in the United States, with more than 60 private, resort and daily-fee clubs.
We are all about service, through the training and education of our staff. At every venue – whether owned or managed – Arcis Golf focuses its resources on creating extraordinary experiences and forging emotional connections with members and guests.
During the past three years, we have become an industry leader in providing inventive direction and unrivaled lifestyle amenities that complement exceptional playing experiences. Arcis Golf has invested more than $60 million in upgrades, amenities, personnel, training and systems to maximize the growth and future success of its unique collection of clubs.
What’s your favorite memory from childhood?
Playing golf with my dad. He was a salesman and we moved a lot. But he played golf and I got started at age 13. I played high school golf and eventually turned pro in 1984.
