Meet John Racer and Mike Mazzrotto of Paradox Distillery

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Racer and Mike Mazzrotto.

Thanks for sharing your story with us John and Mike. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We are a grain to bottle craft distillery focusing on true handcrafted spirits. We are the first distillery in Phoenix since Prohibition. We produce vodka, gin, and rum all of which are fermented and distilled in-house. We started production in 2016 and at the end of 2017 opened our tasting room in the distillery focusing on craft cocktails that showcase out spirits and connect our customers to the process that goes into the production. We feel it is important to connect the public to the process of distillation and have the unique opportunity to share the process, from grain to bottle.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being the first distillery in Phoenix had its challenges. Working with the local municipalities, it was an education on all sides to the process. Further, craft distilling is an emerging market that competes with a large mass of national producers. To compete we are hyper-focused on how the craft distillation process gives us a great level of control on the flavor and quality of our spirits that make us truly unique.

Paradox Distillery – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are again to bottle craft distillery, the first in Phoenix, focused on producing premium grain to bottle craft spirits.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our proudest moment is connecting our customers to the process of distillation and educating our consumers in the process of what goes into a bottle. We love to engage and share our process and greatly appreciate the interest shared.
