Meet John ODowd of Adventus Fabrication in Arcadia

Today we’d like to introduce you to John ODowd.

John, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born and raised in Arizona. Grew up in a middle-class family. My mom was a paralegal and my dad worked construction before he went back to school to become a teacher. I have two older sisters and two younger sisters.

My professional career started working for my uncle Peter O’Dowd and that’s about the time I met my wife Jennifer. Pete founded and was the owner of one of the first mortgage companies in the Valley. I worked for Pete as a loan officer for about 10 years. (I try as best as I can to model my company after O’Dowd Mortgage, Pete was an unbelievable boss!)

I went back to school and graduated from ASU in 2008 in hopes of getting into Medical Sales. I was hired by a startup and after two years, I moved into an independent medical sales rep.

As stated above my dad worked construction, so I grew up working with my hands and building things. I loved welding and trying to build items that I designed and fabricated.

When I went independent as a Medical Sales, it proved much tougher than expected. I finally got to the point where I literally told my wife one day that if “I’m gonna lose money, I might as well do something that I enjoy doing!”

And I started Adventus Fabrication!

Almost 4 years later with the unrelenting support of my wife Jennifer, I am writing this to you guys!

Each year, I been lucky enough to grow and now have two full-time employees who completely kick ass!

Can’t complain at all!

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road? Hahaha!

I love what I do and I love a challenge! But I was a guy that “knew how to build things” (which means I really didn’t know anything) and jumped feet first into custom fabrication! Seriously! I had spent the first 15 years of my professional career as a salesman and now I’m teaching myself on the run how to design and fabricate custom products!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Adventus Fabrication LLC – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Adventus Fabrication is a custom fabrication shop that specializes in custom steel products accented with wood. We do all non-structural steel products ranging from patio tables to fireplaces to custom railings.
