Today we’d like to introduce you to John Lynch.
Hi John, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a licensed therapist (Arizona & Oregon) with master’s degrees in Clinical Social Work (MSW) & Divinity (MDiv) & 15 years providing counseling services in Arizona. Prior to that, I spent a decade working in other social service contexts.
I’ve been privileged to help clients from diverse backgrounds overcome a wide variety of challenges, including complex & acute trauma, abuse & neglect, anxiety & anger, marital & intimate partner problems, grief & loss, substance & behavioral addiction, vocational struggles, spirituality challenges, & more.
I specialize in trauma & anxiety, couples & marriage problems, & men’s issues. My therapeutic style is attachment-oriented & client-centered with a holistic, integrative approach to wellness. I also serve as a State-approved clinical supervisor for other practitioners.
Over the years, I’ve learned that safety, peace, & happiness depend on the adequate satisfaction of our innate physical, mental, emotional, relational, & spiritual needs. Relational/emotional injuries & other hardships can make that kind of satisfaction feel out of reach. I created Redeem Counseling to help individuals & couples increasingly experience the lives they were designed for. Lives that are… Fully Alive!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I spent the first few years of my counseling career working in acute care. The experience allowed me to work with diverse client demographics & in various levels of care. As helpful as these formative years were, I found that, as an empathetic provider, it difficult to experience the intensity of such high acuity suffering without opportunity to help clients go beyond mere crisis stabilization. In contrast, it’s a privilege and a joy for me to help clients find their way into a path of sustainable healing and growth.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Redeem Counseling?
After over a decade in practice, I started Redeem Counseling in Downtown Phoenix to serve the demographic that I belong to & invest so much of my life in. Central City culture and lifestyle have extraordinary beauty, a rich culture, and unique stressors that impact the human experience of those who live here. In addition to serving any who seek help, it’s my specific desire to be a life-giving resource for those who live in this city that I love.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
In many ways, Central City Phoenix culture has only begun emerging within the past decade. The rapid influx of business and residential development has created a dynamic urban context that continually adapts to the people who call it home. Professional & educational opportunities abound, relational connections are readily available, & diversity invites a broader worldview that helps to round out our perspective on the human experience in this world. Now all we need is more rain!
