Meet Joel Martin of Triad West

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Martin.

Joel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started as the owner and operator of one of the first advertising agencies led by a woman. Then I experienced a transformational leadership program that I found to be so personally and professionally rewarding and fulfilling that I closed the agency after 15 years to make a bigger difference with people globally. Triad West Inc. was created as a result.

We provide expertise in diversity and inclusion, transformational leadership development, team building, and business coaching. These services were skills that I acquired as a result of both my training and my ad background. In addition, earned a Masters in Psychology and Ph.D. in Communications — It works for me to be always learning, always growing.

22 years ago, one of the programs that Triad West Inc. created for a 50+ year old California-based organization in homes and services for the aging was a huge success. We assisted them in becoming a national industry leader. One of our products for them was their Diversity University which provided services to the employees through their leadership team.

Another was a multi-departmental bilingual Spanish English Diversity and Inclusion program for their employees which focused on customer service excellence. We drove results of improved communication, greater trust, and empowerment among employee and manager participants and generated significantly higher customer and employee satisfaction survey results… I had two teams of trainers and interpreters working side by side.

I created the Annual Positively Powerful Woman Awards 12 years ago to celebrate the accomplishments of culturally diverse and exceptional women business leaders. Results to date, 50+ women honorees, testimonials, sponsorships by major corporations, and a Stevie award-winning business event. Our next Conference, which is in collaboration with Arizona State University 365 Community Union, includes the Education Summit and the Woman Awards.

My work is formed by my passion to change lives and business for the better. We build exceptional client programs in executive coaching, training, and consulting. Hire and work collaboratively with other companies and consultants in marketing, branding, event production, training, and social media development. And continue to use transformational technologies, authentic conversations, ability to connect, educational knowledge, and broad-based business background to provide extraordinary service.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes, it has been a smooth road of challenges, learning new skills, finding collaborations that are exceptional and some which don’t develop as I wish they would and that as a result become “earned education”. My road is fulfilling, joyful, and meaningful. I find being an entrepreneur an adventure with global connections. What may be considered “struggles”, I consider to be part of my always learning, always growing.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have many favorite memories. If just one, my favorite memory from childhood is traveling with my Mother and Godmother to family reunions.
