Meet Joe Nicolosi of Starcade Capital in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Nicolosi.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always tell my journey as a boy who always had big dreams but wasn’t awakened to my potential until age 23 when I first peeled back the pages of “Unlimited Power” by Tony Robbins. After that moment, I began diving into other personal development books and I was hooked. This carved out a new way of thinking for me, a hope for a better future.

My first dream up to age 18 was to play in the NBA. The realization that was far fetched came my senior year of high school, my last Varsity Basketball season. No colleges were looking at me even though I could shoot with the best of them. I was a skinny average kid from Rochester, NY with a great deal of athletic ability.

When I graduated high school, I really didn’t know where to go or what to do. I dabbled with different majors at several different colleges. I am a three-time college dropout and wear that title proudly. I never got value out of institutional education. My most valuable lessons came from getting out in the world taking some hits, overcoming adversities, and developing skills through fighting in the trenches.

From ages 23-25, I pursued acting. My acting credits include several short films, a lead role in an independent feature film, and a supporting role in a feature-length Western Film which premiered at Beverly Hills Cinema. One of the most exhilarating experiences is seeing yourself on the big screen. An experience I’ll never forget.

I moved to Los Angeles at age 26 to pursue acting on a different level. Nothing was going on in Rochester and I knew I needed a change… there was a different, more compelling life out there that lied ahead. Internally, I was wrestling with it and just decided to do it.

I lived in Studio City, CA for 6 months and my time was short-lived there. I had a ton of learning to go through and the big city took me by surprise. I needed to find myself again outside of the “noise”. Then I made another bold move and set 7 hours east to Scottsdale, AZ. A place I am honored to call home for 2.5 years now.

People ask me why I moved here. My answer stays the same… “I was pulled here.”

I really struggled to break old conditioning and entitlement at the beginning of this new journey. Nonetheless, I prevailed and I’m riding a wave of joy and excitement.

I met a guy here who introduced me to a loan brokering business where they arrange financing for business owners who need capital to expand and thrive in a competitive marketplace.

Instantly, I was fascinated with the potential of the business. As with any business, you have to hunt and go out and find quality deals. My skill-sets matched the business.

I love networking, hunting for deals. communicating with business owners, and thinking of creative ways to structure a deal. In January 2019, I took the leap and officially started my first venture, Starcade Capital.

Since then we have funded many businesses both in the valley here and across the country. There is no deal too big or too small for us.

We pride ourselves and complete transparency throughout our process and have the upper hand seeing as many in our industry look for shortcuts; the easy way out.

We are just getting started eight months in!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
DEFINITELY NOT! If anybody who is achieving something worthwhile today, it’s because they have had to believe in themselves enough to overcome challenges and become armored to the demons of their past.

Here are some struggles I’ve faced:
– Embarrassed about driving a beat-up car.
– Having to borrow money from family when I was desperate.
– Facing friction from loved ones.
– Living in 5 different apartments in a span of 1.5 years. (tiresome)
– Falling for toxic women which stunted my growth.
– Crushing entitlement. (This was very uncomfortable and I had my back up against the wall and needed to do something different. I am proud of this one)
– Feeling disconnected, isolated. Alone time is necessary to refine your path.
– Working jobs I hated. I always knew a job wasn’t for me. There’s a bigger think out there.
– Being used. I worked for a guy who never paid me, made false promises, and threatened to sue me although I did nothing. (This was in Los Angeles.)

Starcade Capital – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Starcade Capital operates as a consulting company for those who need Business loans, Commercial loans, or financing for Equipment. We have over 100 strategic investment partners and lenders who can fund your deal.

We’re known for funding “hard to fund” files. This could mean bad credit borrowers with low monthly deposits or industries that are restricted in many cases. Our biggest deal to date is a $400,000,000 Hotel Development project on the east coast. Simply put, we are deal makers. As T. Boone Pickens once stated, “It takes the same amount of time to work a small deal as it does a big deal so your minds well go after the big one.”

I spend the majority of my time uncovering opportunities for the big deals but also love small deals because we can get them done fast.

We have experienced tremendous momentum from opening up our referral program. What better way to gain traction than to create opportunities for others. My referral partners consist of business brokers, Lawyers, CPA’s, business owners, friends, Real Estate professionals, and more…

I pay out my referral partners 50% of what Starcade Capital nets on any given deal. This is very attractive to them as they are only providing us with a warm introduction and some documentation upfront on the client.

What sets us apart is our willingness to not give up on a deal. If a client of ours gets declined from 6 lenders, we will find the 1 who can get it done… that’s if the deal makes sense based on credit and financials for the borrower.

We are transparent about our process the whole way through. I tell clients I’m not interested in doing just one deal… I want a lasting mutual beneficial relationship for years to come. We are eager and appreciative to earn your business.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
STARTING.

Having the courage to start Starcade Capital in January. For two years, I’ve wanted to do my own thing but had to beat the fear out of me. Most have ideas but are not willing to take the risk or make the sacrifice to pursue the burning desire in their hearts. I was fed up and that was enough to get me going.
