Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Speer.
Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always been creative. I just never would have thought I would be using it to paint. It took a life changing event to change not only my career but also my brain. About 15 years ago, I was pursuing my fast paced and most intense career in medical research. I was also getting ready to continue my education in medical school for further training as well. Then in 2004, I experienced a most horrible injury to my brain that has changed my life forever. I contracted the measles virus, which was an unidentifiable version that my body overreacted to. This resulted in my immune system attacking the virus which went to my brain stem. After my immune system killed the virus, it continued to attack my brain. This all left me to develop brain stem encephalitis. I was supposed to be a vegetable from it, but destiny had a much bigger plan for me, and certainly not one I ever would have imagined.
The condition that I was left in prevented me from continuing my career in the medical field, and I became permanently disabled. I had to leave my dreams of becoming a Doctor behind, and accept losing everything I had worked for. Later on the next year, in 2005, I started doing some therapy with painting to help cognitive function. That is when everything snapped in place. I was painting for the first time, never been trained, never painted ANYTHING before in my life but I was painting as if I had been for years. Painting some pretty amazing things and I shocked my family, including myself at times. Basically, the brain injury caused my brain to switch from a scientist approach to being creative to being artistic in the sense of being an artist. The virus might have destroyed my medical career but it opened a whole new world and career to me in art. That is when my life took a very different turn and I became the artist I would have never dreamed I would have become.
Since then I have been on a rigorous journey with art. I have had two art projects that were very successful. L.B.Paintings, which was a project aimed towards my charity to DV shelters. Halcyon Fine Art was another project that I worked on with another artist in collaboration. I have now decided to work and create under my name, J.Speer Fine Art. I am now pursuing my own personal creative endeavors with my art by exhibiting around the world. My need to help others is now being put into our environment through a self-made business called Sacred Earth.
Sacred Earth’s main purpose is to provide holistic body care with innovative and environmentally safe ways of production. All of this while using a percentage of profit to aid non-profit organizations that help to clean our oceans, give care to injured ocean life, and give care to our precious forests. This project is aimed to launch this summer of 2019.
I am excited to not only make soulful connections with others through art but now creating a form of unity in an effort to help our planet.
To sum up my story, I would like to add a few things in regards to my philosophy: Life is beautiful, even in sorrow and loss. Sometimes it’s the loss and sorrow that shows us our real purpose in life. Everyday is a gift. Don’t take it for granted. Go out and create something, give something back even if you have never received. Do something wondrous and amazing. Show the universe that its creation, which is YOU, is worth every molecule and atom that consists of your existence. This life is short, and I plan on doing exactly just that, exercising my existence.
Has it been a smooth road?
Life is an obstacle course, strengthening you for the next obstacle course. My personal journey has been rocky to say the least. From being disabled to being a single Mother, a DV survivor, and restarting my life from ground up. I would never want anyone to experience the pain of my past, but I will say that it’s the pain and loss that transformed me. It brought me to myself and my path. To my destiny. I embrace all of it, and I am grateful.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a Visionary Artist and Spiritual Abstractionist. As a Visionary Artist, I explore all opportunities within the unlimited universe to create innovative art. I take spiritual concepts and explain them through abstraction. My objective goal is to reach the curious mind and communicate through the windows of the soul, to the spirit. My work is heavily influenced from my study of God, language, culture, symbolism, numerology, sacred geometry and the esoteric world. Each piece I create is an unfolding of the extensive research I do on Metaphysics, Astrophysics, the philosophy of Physics, Esoteric Mathematics, and philosophy.
I started working as a self-taught artist in 2005. My creativity for the majority of my past career has been in the field of science. This later took a turn into expressing that creativity through the visual arts, combining my two passions art and science. My past projects included L.B.Paintings and Halcyon Fine Art. These two projects were based on more of a charitable cause and high-end large works for corporations and businesses. As of now, I will be focusing solely on my personal work under J.Speer Fine Art.
As a seeker of truth, my inspiration as an artist comes from my study of the creator, creation as a whole, multi-universes, dreams, and the spirit realm. I am constantly being inspired by life in all its beauty and sorrow. I travel the world exhibiting in various countries, which also furthers my esoteric studies and research of the universe. I am an inventor of my own creations which includes the first electromagnetic and sound painting. This is only in its first stages of theory and experimentation. I hope by 2020 this invention will be completed and ready to be presented to the world.
As a Visionary Artist, I am always coming up with amazing ideas for creation. This is one of them and I have been wanting to find a way I can environmentally do my share of helping the Earth and its oceans. I also wanted to include everyone else! I am launching a new body care line. I am a trained Aromatherapist, Alchemist and Visionary Creatrix, maybe some of you did not know that. I will finally be using that knowledge to create a line that is not only safe for our bodies but also safe for our planet and its oceans. Free of plastics and containing only natural, biodegradable ingredients with biodegradable packaging.
The BEST part is a portion of the proceeds will be going to non-profit organizations that help remove human wastes, plastics, and garbage from the oceans. Providing care for ocean life that is affected by this crisis too. I am not limiting this only to OUR oceans but to provide care for OUR forests as well.
I am really excited about launching this product line and creating a way for US to help contribute in fixing the damage that has been done by all of US. Regardless of how we feel or how it was done, WE all have been guilty of consuming and adding to this crisis.
What sets me apart from others is the acknowledgment that I am not set apart but striving to become apart of the whole. The whole that makes up humanity. The whole that belongs to love. The whole that belongs to all of us that makes us ONE.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future consist of making my mark on this planet, leaving a legacy to my children, inspiring others to manifest their dreams and become who they were born to be. Living a life full of voluminous experiences and spiritual integrity.
I am looking forward to every moment that I get to give love and receive love. Gain more knowledge, as I travel the path of a seeker. Seeker of truth.
