Meet Jessica Kishbaugh of Skin Esteem

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Kishbaugh.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began my esthetics journey in 2017. I completed 600 hours of theory and clinical work in school at Southwest Institute of Natural Aesthetics in Tempe and finished my program in May of 2018. Just before I turned 21, I opened up Skin Esteem LLC in the Beauty District at Norterra! I’ve always had a passion for makeup which is what got me into the field. I started my business with no clientele as a brand new esthetician and have grown so much in the past year and a half. I thrive off of helping people feel beautiful, educating clients on their skin, and helping them learn how to best take care of it!

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a business from scratch with no clientele was definitely a huge leap especially at a young age. It took a lot of hustling and working to get my name out there to gain many of my regular clients. I market myself a lot of Instagram which has been a huge help in growing my business. I’m really thankful to have a wonderful mom who helped me so much behind the scenes. I still have a long way to go as my business grows and I’m so excited to see where this journey takes me.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Skin Esteem story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is Skin Esteem LLC! I do many esthetic services including from facials, body waxing, body treatments, lash lifts, and more! My most popular services would be my 60/90 minute facials, Dermaplaning facial, and Brazilian waxing. I’m really proud of how far my company has come since I started on September 3rd, 2018. I feel like what sets me apart is my care for my clients and calming presence. I have so many clients compliment me on my touch or on how calming my room is. It’s so important to me that my space is a calming, refreshing place to come and escape from the daily chaos of life. The state of Arizona doesn’t require continuing education for estheticians but I pride myself on always taking multiple classes a year to learn new skills and keep my knowledge fresh.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The beauty industry is growing every year and it’s so exciting to see. So many new treatments and products come out all the time! Within the past year, I took classes on Microneedling and Lash Lifting which weren’t services taught at my school during my time there. I think in the next 5-10 years more professional brands/products will become available which will broaden the treatments I can do with my clients. I also expect a lot more machines to be developed which I would love to invest in within the next few years.
