Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Stoudt.
Jesse, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was originally pursuing a career with the Army ROTC at the University of Arizona in the year of 2016. I wanted to get into acting so I started looking online and doing research on how to pursue my dreams. I eventually found a group on Facebook called the Tucson Actors Network. I went to the first meet upheld by Steve Shermet. It was a very informative session that got me comfortable with the idea of acting.
I later found my first acting role in Chuck Williams film “Amazed by You” I arrived on set a day early and met with my scene partner to go over players and ball movement as we were casted as basketball players. When we finished with planning our sequences I proceeded to PA on set in order to learn as much as possible. The next day we filmed and it was a rather unique experience being directed for the first time.
In the being of November of 2017 I was given the opportunity to be a background extra in the film “Bumblebee” directed by Travis Knight. While on set I spoke with one of the Pan’s trying to learn as much as possible on a Hollywood set. During the weekend of filming one of the featured actors couldn’t be located. The assistant director pulled me aside and asked if I wanted some lines. I agreed and landed my first featured role in a major motion picture.
In the months following, I ventured to Phoenix for small roles and perfecting my craft. I fell in love with the ASU campus where we filmed “Crazy Cat Lady”. The vibrate and decorative areas combined with unique architectural concepts fueled my artistic passion.
Learning from my months of failures and successful ventures I was able to land another featured role on season 2 of “Run Coyote Run” and “The Bellmen”. All these experiences were able to give me knowledge on the Arizona film industry.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a very difficult challenge venturing into the film industry. Between the financial expenses of traveling to LA for auditions and other expenses associated with being an actor, it is hard to pursue fulltime.
I’ve had to learn that I don’t get 90% of the roles I auditioned for. I have been rejected a lot but this is an experience that has given me the knowledge of what to expect within the industry. Also not having a car has been a burden on getting to auditions in other cities.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a professional actor and Screenplay writer. I specialize in character acting but assist on set whenever need be. I’m easy going and humble and I love to learn. I have a passion for the arts. I am most proud of the growth within the Arizona Film Industry.
