Meet Jerricka Staten of You Love My Hair Care

Hi Jerricka, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2018, one of my close friends introduced me to the idea of making my own hair care products. I began obsessing over ingredients and how to make different products. I tried recipe after recipe until I had something that I believed in. I started out with two products, Strengthening African Black Soap Shampoo and the Lemongrass Infinity Cream. Now, fast forward to the present-day, I have nine products. My products contain mostly organic, all-natural ingredients, some of which I have personally grown in my garden. I love my hair and how it makes me feel when it is freshly done. Great hair can change a person’s mood and boost their confidence drastically. I want to provide that feeling to anyone I can reach, especially during the crazy times we are in. I created these products with the intention of taking the stress out of doing your own hair, so you can enjoy the experience with quality products you can trust.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Learning the process of mixing ingredients to get the desired results wasn’t easy in the beginning. I had several failed attempts and mixes that wouldn’t hold up because I didn’t have the right products. I spent countless hours researching all-natural products that had multiple uses and benefits. Finding a name that would fit the brand and packaging was one of my biggest obstacles, but I never let that stop me from continuing to test out different recipes.

We’ve been impressed with You Love My Hair Care, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
You Love My Hair Care was created to be an all-natural, multi-use hair care line that would take the stress out of wash day. Our products are for all hair types, and how each person uses them is based on their hair’s porosity. For example, our popular Infinity cream has been used as a conditioner, leave-in styler, a pre-poo treatment, and body butter. Natural products are more expensive, so I wanted to make sure our customers would get the most out of their quality products. For the upcoming holidays, we will be introducing our beard oil and conditioning cream for the men, a heat protectant and a coconut water leave-in.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I do not believe in luck. I believe that if you set your intentions, establish a goal, and make a plan to achieve that goal. There is only room for success. The more you focus on your goal, the more aware you become of the opportunities presented during the journey. I am a firm believer in the quote from Henry Ford,” “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” You are the only person standing in the way of your success!
