Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Heath.
Jeremy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been running here in the valley for about eight years. I’ve run so many of our local races. From marathons on the road, ultramarathons on the trails, and even our Obstacle Course Races–you name it, I’ve probably ran it! During that time, I’ve come to realize just how amazing our local fitness community really is. It truly is a unique group of amazing people.
I’m an adventure seeker, constantly seeking out something new and exciting to try! There are a ton of fantastic areas of our city and state to visit. My goal is to visit them all, sweat wherever I can and have an incredible story to tell each time.
I am a very sociable person. I enjoy meeting new people, hearing their story and making new friends. I love sharing any sort of advice, motivation, or support that I can. So find me online or in the community and say hello!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Injury has definitely been my largest obstacle. Though must runners would tell you it can come with the territory. Each new injury though only makes me stronger. I come out the other end a smarter runner. And after each new recovery, I find a new appreciation for running all over again.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
The local fitness community has inspired me to connect with others in a variety of different ways. I use my marketing background to help local businesses tap into our community with events, group runs, workouts, influencers/ambassador team activation, social media consulting, and so much more. I love being able to bring everyone together through sweat. The energy can infect your day in such a positive way.
On social media, I aim to motivate the everyday runner to try new adventures. Whether it be a beginner tackling their first 5k, a veteran attempting an ultramarathon, or a runner trying a new type of workout. I am inspired by people online everyday, and if I can do that for just one person, I feel like I’ve achieved something great.
Recently, I helped start up We Run The Desert Podcast. There are so many fascinating stories from runners, groups, and businesses across Arizona. This is a fantastic outlet for us to be able to share those with everyone. I can’t wait to see where our podcast goes from here!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I feel I’ve succeeded when I’ve set a goal for myself and crushed it. It can be as easy as drinking more water, or as tough as completing a new running PR or distance. I set these small and larger goals for myself daily, and feel a great deal of success as I complete each one. Setting these goals also helps keep me motivated to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
