Meet Jenny Rodriguez of Pure Life Jewelry in Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Rodriguez.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always loved making jewelry and even as a kid, I was making beaded bracelets and selling them to my mom’s friends or setting up a “little store” outside my house to sell friendship bracelets. I always had entrepreneurship in my blood. As I got older, I started taking my jewelry passion further by enrolling in metal-smithing classes and I instantly fell in love. There is just something about creating from your own two hands that just fills my soul. So finally, I decided to leave my full-time job and really focus on my company. Recently, I opened a brick and mortar location off of Val Vista and Southern in Mesa, AZ. I sell my own jewelry as well as other local handcrafted vendors. It’s a place for customers to come and see the jewelry process first hand.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh goodness, I wish I could say it has been smooth sailing. Owning my own business has not been easy. I have encountered so many roadblocks, days of self-doubt, and rejection. But I worked past those things because I know it is necessary if you want to succeed. I am so thankful I have a huge support system. My family, boyfriend and friends are truly my number one fans and have always pushed me to shoot for the stars. So, if you’re someone looking to follow your passion and your heart yearns for it!? I say go for it. Invest your heart and soul into something you truly love. If you fail at least you can say you tried. I would hate to look at myself 10 or 20 years down the road and realize I didn’t live a life full of passion and didn’t follow my dreams because of fear. Never hold back, love fully and trust your gut!

Please tell us about Pure Life Jewelry.
Pure Life Jewelry is a handcrafted jewelry line made using only the finest materials. I specialize in creating unique pieces that help reflect the personality of its wearer. My jewelry is a reflection of my ideas on how we should all follow our passions and crazy dreams. I believe that you should travel, see the world, and not give into what you think society wants you to do.

I am most proud of what my jewelry represents to my customers. For them it’s not just a piece of jewelry, it is an every-day reminder that your life is what you make it and that you have everything it takes to make it what you want.

The name of my company itself mirrors a popular Costa Rican saying, “Pura Vida!” and it directly describes the vision for Pure Life Jewelry, as a symbol of living life to the fullest. I was raised with the notion that you should always live courageously and live a life of passion and meaning. For me, making jewelry is not a job or just a business, it is my small way of contributing to your story and journey. I believe that is what’s sets me apart from others.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memories from my childhood are the days where you only had to worry about getting back home before the street lights turned on. There is nothing like playing outside till you’re completely exhausted. Those were the days I miss the most.
