Meet Jennifer Thye of Imoni Events in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Thye.

Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was doing events in college for the president of the university. Once I graduated I wanted to continue to do them on the side. I loved watching people have fun and celebrate others. It made me happy and it eventually turned into a passion. I started my business after doing events and weddings for about three years on the side, and by the time I started the company it just kind of took off. I love all things wedding. And I absolutely LOVE people. Couple that with my ability to transform spaces, design experiences and make the planning process painless, I feel like I am living my dream job for sure!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think all roads have struggles. I know I didn’t have any formal business training so I had to learn a lot of the areas of entrepreneurship that can be complicated, like accounting and human resources. I always was profitable, but it wasn’t until I started hiring others that I felt like I got a true handle on finances and profitability. That had its own challenge as I was then competing with planning companies that were still hobbyists and/or not focused on profits. But we were able to focus our strengths in a way that we attract the right clients for us. And honestly, they are the best clients around!!

Imoni Events – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our company is an award-winning boutique planning company that services a limited amount of luxurious events each year. With over a decade worth of experience, we are confident that our service is unparalleled. Our team is highly trained and specialized in full planning, event design, or day of event management. We pride ourselves on working closely with our clients to ensure their event, and the days leading up to it is beyond successful. We know that our experience is what sets us apart and we are always proud when clients tell us that they could not have done their event without us.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is so many things… I do not think it is always about money, but if you have the business you want, then you are obviously doing something right. I also think that people’s experience is also a measure of success. Did they get more than they expected? Are they happy in the end? Did their guests enjoy themselves? All those things mean a lot to me! But in the end, I would be nothing if not for my family. So no success comes at the expense of that.
