Meet Jennifer Dominguez of Rock ‘N’ Roll Arizona in South Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Dominguez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Music has always been a part of my life whether it was running to the TV after school to watch music videos on MTV then later on in life learning to play instruments including guitar and piano. It was around the age of 16 when I first starting to get more into the music scene by going to concerts and local shows around town. The idea behind Rock ‘N’ Roll Arizona came to me when my friends where looking at photos that I was posting on social media of shows that I attended telling me that they had no idea that a certain band was in town. Ever since I started going to shows I’ve been a very active concert goer so I would follow all the music venues on social media and the bands as well. I would always be the go to when it came to concert information for my friends so that’s when I got the idea to start my page. I started promoting shows that were coming to Arizona, from big venues like Talking Stick Resort to small places like Club Red. The feeling of going to see your favorite band with a group of people who also love that music is one of the best feelings so this page was something I started so people can know when these bands are coming so they can also have the same experience.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In order to achieve what I wanted Rock ‘N’ Roll Arizona to be I had to put so much work into it which was a lot more than I expected it to be. When I started the page I was going to school and working at the same time which took so much time out of my day to keep up with it. I was and still am running Rock ‘N’ Roll Arizona on my own. Trying to keep up with the shows being announced and then posting them for my audience was hard at times. There were times where I would be at work and I would see that a show was announced then I would run to the restroom to write up a post. There were times where I just thought what the point of even doing it anymore was but it’s what I love so if I want it to be successful it’s going to be hard work.

Please tell us about Rock ‘N’ Roll Arizona.
Rock ‘N’ Roll Arizona is a page where we post everything that’s going on in the rock ‘n’ roll scene around the valley. Every week we post the rock shows going on as well as door times so people can know when is the best time to get there. Something I made sure of from the very beginning which I feel sets this page apart from others was that I really put a focus on supporting the local music scene. I started a new feature on Rock ‘N’ Roll Arizona called “Local Friday Feature” where every Friday I’ll post a mini interview with local band/musicians to let people following my page know a little about them giving these musicians a platform to talk about their music and anything else they have coming up. I receive lots of concert announcements from local bands that they will be playing at which I feel really honored that they want to be a part of my page and they trust that I will help get the word out for them. That is what I have been most proud of doing with Rock ‘N’ Roll Arizona is even though we do post these huge bands that are coming to town, I’ve been able to show that there is equally great bands/musicians just around the corner playing at First Friday, bars, coffee shops etc.
