Meet Jennifer Blair of Deka Lash in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Blair.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2011, I had a vision to create a simple eyelash business that offered premier services at affordable prices. Starting out in a one-room studio in downtown Pittsburgh Pennsylvania I perfected the craft and soon opened my own studio. By 2014, I had grown my business in Pittsburgh to 4 exclusive studios that focused only on eyelash extensions. In 2016, along with my husband Mike, began to franchise the concept and have expended our to more than 100 franchise locations in 17 states. We at Deka Lash set out to shake up the beauty industry in our own specialty way. We are a family and a culture like no other. The name “Deka Lash” isn’t a coincidence as it represents my two older daughters. The ‘DE’ of Deka Lash is the first two letters of Demi’s Name, while the ‘KA’ comes from the first two letters of my youngest daughter Karli. Also, Deka means ’10.’ The number ten has a long-standing history related to beauty.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business is not a smooth road. Everyone knows that starting a business is hard work, but not sure if people really know the challenges. There are so many moving parts that go into starting a business and even more when you add a franchise system. Although it has been challenging, I was lucky to have a great team that really kicks butt. Having great mentors and people that believe in your vision is what it takes to overcome those bumpy roads.

Our vision is to inspire everyday confidence by creating beautiful lashes. We support this vision by fostering a positive environment that promotes team chemistry, respect, accountability and hard work. Deka Lash provides and extraordinary salon environment, committed exclusively to eyelashes.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I love everything about Phoenix including the outdoor living. I have never been a cold weather person and enjoy the sweltering heat. Phoenix is also becoming a great hub for startups and entrepreneurs which I find fascinating.
