Meet Jelena Drcelic Yowell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jelena Drcelic Yowell.

Hi Jelena, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As 2 year old toddler I had a dream to be ballerina and piano professor With 4 years old I have started learning both ballet and piano and didn’t stop up till my late 20’s. When I gave birth to my son I have started to teach him piano as early as his 3 years old . In wish to help other students develop and learn beautiful music to play on piano or dance ballet 2013 I have created European Ballet and Piano School .
I have started teaching piano at my home and ballet and my son Martial Arts studio . Then we moved Ballet to Music Together studio and than Covid hit . We had to hold ballet and piano lessons in the park . That was super tough period for us as school . It was hard to keep students focused when so many people were in park doing their own thing .
2020 we move to new studio that we are in right now and we simply love it. We have Piano studio separated from ballet where students can play simultaneously on multiple pianos.
Ballet studio has Gym on site , huge stage with Barre and holding seats for our shows when we have .
It was hard and tough road that we as school passed in past years but it was totally worth it .

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh no definitely was not a smooth road. As I have mentioned earlier Covid crisis made our business really suffer . Having lessons in park under marks or face shields was super tough . But we survived and students had even 6 concerts that year . So development and learning didn’t stop if the world got hit with Covid .
Also moving from studio to studio was very hard on us too. You never knew when landlord will close business or move to any other location or any other reasons that will influence our business as us as renters of space . So we could not hold steady students and business could not grow at all cause we had to move so many times .

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
European Ballet and Piano School is family oriented school that mainly focuses on students brain development throughout music or dance . I am Ballet and Piano Professor and owner of the same school . I don’t only teach students how to play piano and dance ballet but we do all different shows where learn musicals , acting and singing . Also every lessons that we offer not just develop students brain but human being as a whole .
Our Piano Lessons offers not just piano but Music Theory and Solfeggio . So students not just learn to read and write notes but to play them on their own and create their own compositions .
Ballet lessons offers not just Classical Ballet class but Gym, Stretching , Barre, Brain and focus games , Choreographies and Nutrition where student learn how to eat healthy and stay healthy eating fresh fruits and veggies on class.
EBPS started as little school 2013 and grow to be awarded 3 years in the row as The Best Piano Lessons in Phoenix and The Beat Ballet Lessons in Phoenix and The Top 10 Ballet Schools of Phoenix. Also we have our own National Dance Chapter where students can join and receive Certfications not just on our level but on National level too.
I can’t be more prouder on EBPS and our all students . Without fantastic students we will never get where we are now .

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Taking risk in business is part of having business . You always take risks . We took risk with continuing to work at park during Covid . Lots of schools stopped working at that time we were the only one open. Imagine if I didn’t take that risk ? My business will die Taking risk is like jumping if you don’t jump you will never know will you fly. That’s how I think .
