Meet Jeffrey Kraus of Crêpe Bar in South Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Kraus.

Receiving the Local Hero Award from Edible Phoenix for chef/restaurant in the spring of 2015 and named Phoenix Magazine’s Best New Restaurant in 2013, the former ‘Truckin’ Good Food’ chef has continued to advance his neighborhood brunch and coffee spot into an award winning destination. Jeff’s constant drive for excellence has earned him and his team multiple Phoenix New Times Best of Awards. When it comes to inspiration his attention to detail and playful approach to breakfast and lunch is nothing short of full-throttle.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I realized shortly after opening up the very first “Best of” food truck in Phoenix named, Truckin’ Good Food in 2010, which earned multiple local and national accolades and drove me to opening Crêpe Bar in 2012, that the struggles are not really a struggle at all. Especially, when the struggles aren’t repeatedly experienced. I guess in a way the struggles I’ve experienced has made the road smoother for the journey that has yet to come.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Crêpe Bar – what should we know?
Crêpe Bar, an experience where raising the bar is about a dedicated, passionate focus on the details, and the art of making delicious food. Crêpes are made fresh-to-order and incorporate seasonal ingredients thoughtfully sourced from some of the top farms in Arizona and the region. We are known for being a space that encourages and fosters the growth of small businesses, partnerships, and creativity. The guest services and flavors of the dishes is above and beyond any industry average.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Acknowledging what my strengths are and aren’t; staying true to what the heart and soul of what makes Crêpe Bar what it is; and being strong, honest, and mindful, is all important to my continued success.
