Meet Jayla Jimenez of Now. I Am. Fitness in Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayla Jimenez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jayla. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Now. I Am. Fitness started as my mere desire to want to take my active fitness lifestyle I’m passionate about and turn it into something I can provide as a service to others on a regular and ongoing basis. Having an active fitness lifestyle has always been a part of my life from playing team sports as a child throughout my years up through my final years in high school. Being and keeping physically fit carried on through my career within the United States Marine Corps and continues to this day. Fitness in general was originally simply cardio and resistance training. Though as I trained and progressed, I became increasingly interested in finding out how to improve my performance in the gym. As I read, researched, and listened to other athletes in the fitness industry, I essentially became increasingly interested in looking for anything and everything that could provide me with answers to what I wanted to know fitness, health and wellness. People began approaching me for guidance and as they did I would provide them with guidance to contribute to their goals or results. I began to realize the benefit I can provide to my family, friends, and others who are not or may not be as aware of fitness and dietary habits. Eventually, I decided to pursue, and put forth my efforts to start up and develop Now. I Am. Fitness to help others better their self and well-being.

Now. I Am. Fitness currently provide physical fitness training both in-person at an exceptional fitness facility in Chandler, AZ and also with options for training through an online program. Now. I Am. Fitness will grow from physical fitness training into to eventually develop into something larger.

Has it been a smooth road?
Building Now. I Am. Fitness is a challenge and continues to be a challenge, but in a good way. Many people can relate to having to work their job(s) that they depend on as it may be the main source of income in order to support their self, family, or others whom they may care about. Plus, to pay their current bills and living lifestyle. For me the challenge was using the time I had outside of my jobs to pursue what I was passionate about instead of spending it on meaningless activities like binge watching a television show. It took and continues to take extreme patience and persistence to achieve the goals I do set for myself and the company. Challenges came in many different forms and as there are many I’ll briefly talk about three. The first and greatest was time. I initially believed that time was the reason I couldn’t accomplish what needed to get done to start my business. Then, I realized it came down to knowing that there was time, that we’re all given the same amount, and I just needed to find out where I was spending my time to substitute it to work on my business. Another challenge was finding out “how” to start up and run a business in the fitness industry. With some guidance from a fellow personal trainer I took any and all guidance and began planning and taking immediate action. The thing is the information to start up a business is already available all over the internet, and it just required for me to look for the answers I needed. A third challenge was determining the dedicated amount of money to invest without going overboard to start. Coming from a “barely making it” income it came down to me having to only spend money on necessities and to stop being a “consumer” of other unnecessary things that I don’t need. Any money I was saving I put towards building the foundation and starting up Now. I Am Fitness.

Now. I Am. Fitness provide stellar and efficient services to individuals in areas such as preparing for an athletic event or competition, performance, building muscle, improving general lifestyle and other fitness goals as it relates to the individual’s preference. We currently have four training programs custom built to provide options to those who already know what they are looking for, which include programs for individuals:
• Who are beginners
• Who are looking to get lean
• Who are looking to increase strength
• Who are looking to improve their athleticism
Though if the individual does not know what they are looking for we listen to understand where they are coming from and where they ultimately want to be with their fitness goals.

Our central focus is building the foundation of the human body prior to exercise, which includes analyzing an individual’s current state range of motion, analyzing their movement patterns through a body assessment, selecting specific exercises to maximize their mobility and function, and helping minimize the individual’s risk of injury going into and during exercise. We strive to minimize poor movements and minimize compensations that can happen if an individual does not include a focus on improving/correcting their foundation.

I am most proud of what the company represents and its mission. Now. I Am. Fitness was born from the principle that people are fit, healthy, and athletic. To be that person who is fit, healthy, and athletic we stand by the idea that the person would need to start by taking action. As long as a person is willing to want to do more, we will definitely help guide them to be more.

Part of our mission is contributing to the highest awareness and bringing attention to the benefits and importance of maintaining an active lifestyle. Our intent is to build stronger human beings, both physically and mentally, from the foundation on up. This will contribute not only to their active lifestyle in, for example, the gym, sports, but also to their ordinary everyday lifestyle

While working with individuals to reach their fitness and dieting goals with the most efficient methods, we educate them and bring awareness along the way so that the individual can self-sustain and be able to do this independently. We strive to help them build good fitness and nutrition habits.

Now. I Am. Fitness is built upon the belief that we can build stronger human beings, both physically and mentally, from the ground up. We strive to focus on the foundation of the body. We believe no person should go into a workout without first conducting an analysis of their current body and habits and then working to correct or adjust little by little what is necessary in order to allow you to perform at your best in the gym and outside the gym as part of their ordinary lifestyle.

In addition, Now. I Am. Fitness (N.I.A.) personal trainers are Fitness Leaders, which is a combination of being a trainer and a guide. They’ll not only demonstrate what to do and how to do an exercise they will provide guidance and understanding along the way. They’ll motivate you, encourage you, and help you get past your limits and overcome challenges.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Absolutely. I believe the Phoenix and its surrounding areas is a great place to start up a business. It is well known for being a great hub for businesses as there are no natural disasters. It would take a person who is not used to high temperatures a period of acclimatization, in my opinion 1 to 2 years.
