Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayde Pigati.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Growing up I was always running around with my parent’s film cameras or disposables and printing hundreds of photos. I loved to look through old albums and reminisce on all of the fun memories of my parents as well as my sisters and I. After having my first daughter my passion for photography grew and I knew this is what I was meant to do.
It so important to me to always put my family first in my business. They are the reason I am so passionate about what I do after all. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and met when we were 16 and 17. We have been together for 13 years and married 7 years. We have 3 beautiful daughters Danica, Lilyan and Penelope ages 8, 5 and 3. When my husband and I aren’t doing house projects together we are playing with our girls or taking them on an adventure somewhere outdoors. We also have 3 crazy dogs! Our life is crazy and busy and full of love and I wouldn’t change a thing!
Please tell us about your art.
I am a portrait photographer based out of Sedona, Arizona. I specialize in wedding and maternity photography. Before I photograph any of my clients I try to get to really know them beforehand so I can be sure that their photos reflect their personalities. My photography style is warm and rich. I love helping clients make their visions come to life.
Weddings and Maternity are 2 of the most special times in a couples lives and I believe that creating tangible memories from these events is so important! I believe that it’s important to not only capture these moments but to print and preserve them for generations to enjoy. Growing up I loved going through all of my family photo albums and still do as an adult. Now that I have children of my own I see them going through the same albums I did as a kid and now the ones we have created as a family and it warms my heart. I want my clients to have this same gift!
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
Technology and social media are a curse and a blessing. Artists are their own worst critiques and social media makes it so hard to not doubt yourself and your work. It’s hard not to compare yourself to the other amazingly talented artists out there when you see all their work on social media daily. Also, for most photographers social media is how we get most of our bookings and we are constantly having to try and find new ways to make our work seen and the algorithms are constantly changing which makes things even more difficult. My biggest advice (which I need to work on myself) is to not compare yourself when looking at others work but use that as inspiration and encouragement to push yourself as an artist! Remember, that person was once where you are as an artist.
