Meet Jayde Patterson of SheGotDaCakez LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayde Patterson.

Hi Jayde, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story really starts long before SheGotDaCakez officially existed. I come from a line of incredible women who knew that food wasn’t just something you ate—it was something you felt. In my family, Sunday dinners were almost sacred. The table would be full of soul food made with love, and the dessert table… that’s where my eyes always went. We’d have pound cakes, cobblers, pies—recipes passed down from my grandmother, my mom, my aunts. It was more than food; it was a celebration of togetherness.

Those Sunday dessert tables lit a spark in me. I started baking when I was just 14—this shy little girl with flour on her cheeks and a big dream in her heart. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was carrying forward the legacy of those women before me, putting my own hands and heart into the recipes that shaped our family.

Over the years, I have fallen in love with the art of baking—the science, the creativity, and the way a dessert can make someone feel seen and loved. I went on to graduate from the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts with my degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. That’s where I began to refine my skills and think about how I could take those cherished traditions I grew up with and give them a little twist—something modern, something a little bougie, but still rooted in soul.

That’s how SheGotDaCakez was born. To me, it’s not just a bakery; it’s a love letter to my family, especially the women who taught me that the kitchen is where stories are shared and memories are made. Every cheesecake, every tart, every cookie carries a piece of that history—but with my own signature flair. I like to say I take those soulful classics we grew up with and give them a little ‘bougie glow-up.’

So, in a way, SheGotDaCakez is the bridge between where I come from and where I’m going—honoring the traditions that fed my spirit as a kid while creating something fresh, vibrant, and uniquely mine. It’s about more than dessert. It’s about connection, legacy, and making every bite feel like both a hug and a celebration.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Honestly, I don’t think most entrepreneurial journeys are. For me, one of the biggest challenges early on was simply figuring out how to turn my passion into a real business. I started baking as a teenager because I loved it, but running a business—pricing, permits, marketing, all of that—was a whole new world I had to learn on the go.

There were seasons where resources were tight. I didn’t have fancy equipment or a big commercial kitchen at first, so I had to get creative with what I had. There were times when orders piled up, and I was up all night baking with tears in my eyes because I was exhausted but determined. Balancing it all—being a student, an entrepreneur, and still trying to keep my peace and joy—wasn’t easy.

Another struggle was finding my own voice as a baker. I grew up with recipes passed down through generations, but I also wanted to put my own spin on things—to take those soulful classics and give them that bougie, elevated twist. Learning to trust my creativity and not compare myself to other bakers was a process.

But every challenge shaped me. The setbacks taught me patience and grit. The late nights taught me discipline. The doubts reminded me why I started—to honor my family’s legacy, to share the joy I found in those Sunday dessert tables, and to create something that feels like home with a little sparkle.

Looking back, the road may have had bumps, but those struggles gave SheGotDaCakez its soul. They made me more intentional about every dessert I bake and more grateful for every person who supports this dream

We’ve been impressed with SheGotDaCakez LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SheGotDaCakez is truly the heart of who I am as a baker and as a woman who grew up in a family where food meant love. We specialize in soulful, bougie-twist desserts that bring a sense of nostalgia with a modern edge. We’re most known for our cheesecakes—everything from classic 9-inch cakes to our signature minis—as well as our decadent cookies, seasonal tarts, loaf cakes, and breads. Each recipe carries the warmth of home, but with that elevated, chic vibe that makes it feel like a treat worth celebrating.

What sets us apart is the soul and story behind everything we make. I grew up inspired by the big Sunday dessert tables at my family’s dinners—where recipes were passed down through generations of strong women who cooked from the heart. I wanted to carry that tradition forward but add my own touch. So, when people taste SheGotDaCakez, they’re not just getting a dessert; they’re tasting a little piece of history, family, and love—plus a bougie glow-up that makes it unforgettable.

I’m incredibly proud of the way the brand has stayed true to its roots while still growing and evolving. We’ve become known for desserts that feel like both comfort and luxury—a hug and a celebration in every bite. That’s been my vision from the start.

After three years of building SheGotDaCakez from scratch—working out of shared kitchens and doing pop-ups and markets—I’m so excited and humbled to share that I’ve finally been blessed with our very own brick-and-mortar location. We’ll be opening in Avondale, AZ this October 2025, and it feels like such a full-circle moment: taking this dream that started at my family’s Sunday table and turning it into a home where our community can come together over dessert.

What I want readers to know is that SheGotDaCakez isn’t just about selling sweets—it’s about creating an experience. Every dessert is made with intention, with joy, and with the hope that it will become a part of someone else’s story, whether it’s a birthday celebration, a late-night craving, or a family gathering. Our offerings reflect who we are: soulful, creative, and always sprinkled with a little love and a little bougie flair.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Honestly, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is to give myself grace and trust the process. When I first started, I thought I had to have it all figured out and get everything perfect right away. However, building SheGotDaCakez taught me that the setbacks, late nights, and even mistakes were all part of the journey. Those moments grew me just as much as the successes did.

I had to learn to be patient with myself and with the timing of things. There were days when I wondered if it was all worth it, but I held onto the vision and kept showing up — one order, one customer, one late-night baking session at a time. That perseverance and faith have been everything.

Now, three years later, I’m getting ready to open my first brick-and-mortar in Avondale this October 2025, and it feels like proof that all those lessons along the way were leading me here. It’s taught me that sometimes the sweetest rewards come after the hardest seasons.

So, for me, the most important lesson has been to stay rooted in why I started — the love of baking, the memories of those big Sunday dessert tables — and to keep moving forward, even when it’s messy. That’s where the real growth and magic happen.
