Meet Jay Montez of Scottsdale az

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Montez.

Hi Jay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Phoenix, Az. I’ve always had an interest in hair starting from a young age and had a lot of practice with three sisters and a mom. I was doing my own hair for as long as I can remember. I was working jobs I wasn’t necessarily the happiest in and the choice was become a nurse or chase my passion and my fiancé looked at me and said you’ve been talking about wanting to do hair for as long as we’ve been together you should just go for it and I did and have never been happier. I get to do what I love and make others feel good about themselves it’s a win win. I opened my own business back in November with a good friend who was also a mentor when I first got into the industry. Without the support of my close group of friends and family who knows where I’d be but I’m happy where I’m currently at.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggles along the way were mainly inner struggles of having to get out of my comfort zone and fully believe in what I can do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m hairstylist with a focus on blonding and color services. I would say I’m known for my platinum blondes.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m an avid true crime watcher/ podcast listener
