Meet Jax Atwell of Atwell Investigations

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jax Atwell.

Jax, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always had an investigative mind, even as a young child. Always the type to want to know the W’s (who, what, where, when, and How) of anything in life. That lead to a twelve-year career in law enforcement in California and Arizona. I did all the good stuff like narcotics, swat, training, etc…but God led my skills into a better career. Being a private investigator for the past eleven years has been amazing. The ability intimately handle a client’s needs and help them come to a conclusion so they can move to the next steps of their lives is richly rewarding.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Self-employment is never a smooth road! That being said being your own boss is truly one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Being a good investigator and honing those skills is one thing but learning how to be a decent businessman took many, many years of riding the waves of ups and downs! Not that I’m an expert at it now but after hitting my ten-year mark it feels like the joys of wisdom have seemed to really click!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Atwell Investigations – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Atwell Investigations is obviously me. I am the product but as I’ve grown and been able to attach like-minded investigators to my team we’ve been able to be a positive force in the investigative field for Arizona. It is easy to say we specialize in this or that but the best thing that I can say is my company specializes in empathy. Our clients, person or business, become one with us and we take their case on like we were fighting a personal battle. Many of our clients become lifelong friends. Even with great distance some of our clients keep in touch via social media and other means. It is very fulfilling to know what you have done has great impact on people’s lives. Other than that Atwell Investigations is a jack of all trades investigative services. We do specialize in locating missing person and those type of case but we handle everything from every domestic issue, civil, criminal, insurance, etc.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I think as a business owner you have to constantly be aware of change and for me that is great because I love change. In the investigative industry we as “small business” investigators have a huge goliath infighting, what I call, the Walmart effect in our industry. Making mention of Walmart because of what the giant did to ma and pa type businesses. The investigative industry is under attack from huge Nationwide Corporations that swallow up all the SEO and internet space. Many times illegally taking in cases in states they aren’t licensed in but selling the case back to individual investigators at a fraction of what they should be making. I decided a few years ago if I was going to stay in the industry that I was going to fight back as hard as I could for my market share. It has been a massive learning process into marketing and bringing my other hobbies (adventuring, acting, television, and writing) into a well-rounded product to get ME and my company name out there as much as possible!
