Today we’d like to introduce you to Javier Verdugo.
Javier, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I told my son in American families the father and son work together restoring and old Chevy, so I told my him me and you are going to restore this old building and turn it into a restaurant; that’s how it all started. In the summer of 2017, we worked on it the whole summer did all the demolition keeping some of the original structure and then called in the crew so they could finish the rest. Once we finish with the remodeling, I started working with my staff on traditional recipes from southern Mexico. From there, the restaurant had finished its menu and all that was left was running the business. Everything has been great for almost two years open and we are working on a new menu that will be out soon.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I am a very positive person and I don’t look them as struggles there just experiences we learn something new all the time.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Here at Casa Corazon restaurant, we specialize in making spectacular food from southern Mexico unlike the very common northern food you see all over the city. We are also said to have a very beautiful building with a good ambiance and art all over the restaurant.
What were you like growing up?
As a young teen, my parents had Sonoran food shop set up outside of a factory in Mexico. That is where my inspiration to open up a restaurant came from. I have always like to build things, play cowboy, ride bikes. I was never after the money, I always did what I enjoy. And coming to the united states as a 14-year old I liked the quality and organization of this country.
