Meet Jason Bravo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Bravo.

Jason, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began my business a few years ago by recording my son at the park just playing. Slides, swings and just running around being crazy. I wanted to make a hi-light of the day, so I figured out how to cut all the excess/boring parts out of the video and leave all the ‘fun’ parts’. I started doing the same for my children’s b-day parties. Then it took off into friends of the family, then a friends Quinceañera; now I do weddings, corporate videos and many more!

Has it been a smooth road?
Videography is hard to get into. The equipment is expensive! That was definitely one of my struggles starting off. I had to use my cell phone for a lot of my first videos until I was able to afford a DSLR camera and tripod and what not. Earning people’s trust to record their special events was hard also. The more videos I had to share to prospective clients that I’ve produced, the easier it became. It allows them to see what kind of work I can produce.

Another challenge is producing a video worth watching. What may be important to me isn’t important to everyone else. I talk to my clients and find out what’s important to them to ensure I’m getting what they want!

Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about your work?
I specialize in birthday parties particularly. It’s what got me started. As a parent, I used to always run around with my cell phone and be buried behind the lens. I couldn’t enjoy my friends and family, or relax and just take it easy. I was always obsessed with ‘capturing that moment’. Seeing my child open gifts and their facial expressions is the best to me!

They’re special days that need to be captured and treasured. As a father to four children, I feel that I know all about those moments and it makes me want to be able to capture those same moments for other families and have them be able to relax during their event.

Weddings are probably my biggest request. That’s one of the most special days to anyone! I’m honored to be able to capture those special moments on film and produce a video for friends and family to share!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I’d like to land a contract with a few local places, I think that’d be nice. If I can be a ‘preferred vendor’ for a few wedding venues in the valley. Or a contract with someone like Peter Piper Pizza to record families birthdays. That would be amazing to me!
