Hi Jarick, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
After graduating from Illinois State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, I jumped right into my very first restaurant job to ensure I had an income while actively searching for a job in the journalism field. I quickly moved through every front-of-the-house position within a year and became the restaurant’s Banquet Captain/Event Coordinator. I had to teach myself pretty much how to bartend, but it was something I picked up very easily. Fast forward to my move to Phoenix in 2018, I became a bartender and manager for a popular Italian restaurant called ‘North Italia.’ I gained a lot of experience through this restaurant. I made numerous connections, which led me to bartend private events outside of the restaurant, such as weddings, company holiday parties, pool events, etc., Which is what led me to start my own private bartending services business called ‘Top Me Off (AZ)’ and I have been very successful with the venture since.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been pretty smooth for the most part. Constant networking and connecting for the next event have come easily. The only struggle I’ve noticed is how things drastically slow down in the summertime, so making sure I’m picking up work in other areas to keep a consistent revenue flow has been interesting. Still, I am a hustler, so I always make it out on top.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to be more familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Since starting the business, I have claimed to specialize in helping provide an amazing experience for customers and their guests. Whether through simple, basic cocktails, or specialized craft cocktails, I give it my all with every event, whether big or small. I pride myself on loving what I do and enjoying every opportunity to work with regular customers or new ones that become regulars. Being a professional bartender doesn’t just mean you can make good drinks; the personality and energy you provide are what people notice and will take you a long way. What sets me apart from others in this business is that I’ve been told I have a natural energy that attracts people to me, making them want to be around me. If they will spend money on an individual and trust them to provide an excellent experience, I am the go-to guy for it.

What changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see my business growing. The more I grow and learn lessons, the more I can put into the business and progress from there. Hopefully, some big changes are to come!
