Meet Jannae Chester of Nae’s Photography in North Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jannae Chester.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jannae. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always had a passion for art whether it be drawing, painting, ceramics, but photography was not just a hobby anymore. I love capturing beautiful moments that can last a lifetime.

I started off with a cheap point and shoot camera, but as I grew to know more about my camera. I upgraded and I started practicing with my family members and soon booked clients. A year later, I’m happy to say that I’m proud of how far I’ve come and can’t wait to grow more as a photographer!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not. Some of the challenges were just building clients and setting myself apart from other photographers.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Nae’s photography is best known for natural light photography. I specialize in families, weddings, couples, unique portraits, and everyday Native American culture. What sets me apart from other photographers is my style and the way I capture my clients. I always want to share my culture and show everyone’s true beauty.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I would always spend the summers with my grandma on the Navajo reservation. She would always be teaching me a new craft or I would spend my time outside exploring. I always wanted to help others or be involved with what everyone was doing. Not much has changed as my personality goes. I was always a shy kid and still am.
