Meet Jane Hanson of HHH Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jane Hanson

Hi Jane, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in rural Minnesota — western border of the state on the prairie ; My first career move was as a broadcaster working at a very small TV station in Sioux Falls, SD; I moved to Cedar Rapids, IA very quickly and then was fortunate enough to attract the attention of the NBC Network. I moved to New York City and began as a reporter at WNBC TV at the iconic 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Throughout my career at NBC, I anchored iconic programs like Today in New York and The Today Show, covering pivotal moments like 9/11, Yankees victory parades, Wall Street trends, and Washington politics. My reporting took me around the globe, from the Gobi Desert of Mongolia to the depths below New York City for my award-winning program, Jane’s New York. Most recently I hosted New York Live. Along the way I won nine Emmy Awards Then I decided I was tired of the deadlines, the odd hours, and knew my expertise as a communicator would come in handy — thus was created my coaching business, which brings me frequently to the Phoenix area. I coach C-suite executives across finance, technology, startups, pharmaceuticals, fashion, media, helping them with great presentations, speaking at events worldwide, learning how to speak with confidence internally and externally, and how to tell their story to the media in interviews. Clients also include a diverse range of professionals—from scientists to chefs and hoteliers—helping them communicate with clarity and confidence. And I partner with financial institutions and Private Wealth managers to host seminars and private sessions aimed at enhancing client communication. I am also a contributor to Forbes.com, focusing on business, transitions, leadership and women.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is it ever smooth? LOL. in my first job, I was the only woman they had ever hired in the news department of their TV station. I had to prove a lot. and that was a theme that continued throughout my broadcast career; frequently being the only woman on the stage or on the scene. Regardless, I thrived and loved what I did and do. Becoming an entrepreneur has also been tough at times; leaving the comfort of a corporation meant I no longer had staff support or mentors to ask for advice. I had create the business plan, fund it all myself, reach out to sell my services, all skills I wasn’t sure possessed. However, I believed that what I had to offer was needed; and that proved to be right. I value those who stood beside me, hired me, and to this day continue to have close relationships with me. I also learned some surprising strengths I had — organization, ability to pivot quickly, using my broadcast editing skills to help people learn what their one clear message is, and using my TV skills to help others understand how to be great when speaking to the outside world.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about HHH Productions?
