Meet Jamie Garner of Festively Frosted Cookie Co. in North Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Garner.

Jamie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ever since I can remember, baking has been huge in my family. After having my son in October 2015, I became obsessed with watching cookie decorating videos on Instagram. I was determined to learn how to do it. Facing my main challenge of being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in mid 2016, my cookie decorating had been put on hold since I could barely use my right hand after my first MS exacerbation. Finally, in October of 2016, I felt I was ready to give it a shot. I made cookies for our annual Halloween celebration and made cookies for friends and family. In 2017, I decided to start Festively Frosted Cookie Co. I have been non-stop baking and cookie decorating since.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the beginning of my cookie journey was my main struggle. (During my first exacerbation, I was unable to vocalize my thoughts and wasn’t able to type or write with my right hand.) But I do not give in to the MS and push through as much as I can. It’s all about mindset and I’ve always been extremely headstrong and willful. (Just ask my mom.)

Please tell us about your business.
I believe my dedication to customer service is what helps set me apart from the many other talented cookie decorators. I make sure my client is 100% happy and is included in every part of the process. From our first interaction to when they’re picking up their Festively Frosted cookies. I specialize in custom decorated sugar cookies. I have customized my sugar cookie recipe and it includes my very own homemade Bourbon Vanilla which helps take my cookies and their flavor to the next level. I’m constantly trying to stay ahead of the trends to make sure I can offer my customers the best.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans include getting ready for the upcoming holiday season. (That in itself is a full time job.) I have wanted to start teaching cookie decorating classes to small groups and kids, so stay tuned in 2020 for availability. A goal I have for myself is to make it into the Christmas Cookie Challenge on Food Network. Wish me luck!
