Meet James Heaton

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Heaton.

James, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
If I go back, I grew up in a very small town in rural Utah. Being a cosmetic dentist was not even remotely in my plans but I was taught to work hard and pursue what I was passionate about and that ultimately is how I ended up where I am.

While in college at the University of Utah I got a little taste of the medical field and I knew right away that was the direction I wanted to start looking for my future career. I first got a degree in Radiography and worked for several years as doing CAT scans. It was during this time that I got braces for myself and fell in love with the idea that a smile can completely change the way someone feels about themselves. For me, it gave me confidence that I had never experienced before and I wanted to be able to do that for other people.

Fast forward a couple of years and I am in dental school at Ohio State University. After Dental school, I took a comprehensive course to learn to do orthodontics and enjoyed that but it still was not quite what I was passionate about so it started to take every course I could on cosmetic dentistry and finally found my real passion, creating perfect smiles using porcelain veneers. I have been doing this for the better part of a decade now and I love what I do. Every day I get to help transform someone’s smile and I get to see them a year or two later and talk to them about how it has impacted their lives. There is always a story of new found confidence and passion for life. Its fun to watch someone look in a mirror and see their new smile for the first time but the one or two years follow up in much more impactful for me.

I am truly grateful to my parents who taught me to work hard and pursue my passion so I could be doing this today.

Has it been a smooth road?
Getting into dental school was tough and Dental school was even harder. Getting a business up and running was also very stressful but has proved to be very rewarding. Dental school was very expensive. Learning to run a business and manage a team takes a lot of dedication and has a learning curve.

Tell us about your business.
We are a general dental office so we offer pretty much every service under the dental umbrella. However, I specialize in cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers using porcelain veneers. What we are most proud of as a company is how we treat people. We have long term very loyal customers because they have been treated fairly and with superior customer service for many years.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Chandler AZ is a great place to do business. It has a great economy and has been experiencing tremendous growth in the past decade and will continue to grow for the foreseeable future.
