Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Leigh Boonlorn.
Jaime is the creative force and founder of YOGA PAISAN.
YOGA PAISAN brings unique unions + pairings on and off the mat. From Mother + Daughter Yoga Workshops with our sister company The Nest Collective, LLC, to powerful unleashing with Buti Yoga through yoga and tribal dance, healing water meditations on top of stand up paddle boards, SUP Yoga Fitness, and to intentionally crafted yoga Nidra meditations that help transform and bring healing.
Jaime founded YOGA PAISAN to meet the needs of individuals, as well as diverse groups, in a kindred friendship of mind + body matters. Each offering is a full mind and body experience.
Paisan was her father’s name. He was a man who radiated love, strength, generosity, and true comradeship. He, along with Jaime’s mom Joyce, left this Earth way too soon. The friendships Paisan and Joyce cherished sustained Jaime and she wishes to bring this same sense of warmth and kinship to all who enter her classes.
Jaime received her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training from SWIHA Spirit of Yoga. She is also mini yogisTM, Buti Yoga, and Yoga Nidra certified. Most recently she received her SUP Yoga Teacher Training and Certification in Miami Florida.
Whether booking a private session or for a large group gathering, Jaime believes in an intuitive approach to guiding a practice. She has been honored with leading practices at Sundance Film Festival, an international yoga retreat in Guatemala for Mama Hope, and at Uber Corporate offices. She has also partnered with Lululemon, Bottoms Up Yoga and Beer, Whole Foods, Lorna Jane, and the Girl Scouts of Arizona. She is a brand ambassador for Altar Ego Apparel.
She teaches regular classes at The Village Health Club and Spa, Living Stone Yoga, Boeing Corporate, and Desert Fitness. She founded The Nest Collective Yoga in 2016 as a way to celebrate the mother-daughter bond through the practice of yoga with classes, workshops, and retreats.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a full-time yoga instructor is not all namaste and ease. I teach at several different gyms across the Valley, and classes are not always back to back at one gym. There is a lot of driving involved.
Creating my own company to teach private clients and unique offerings is a way to help offset the intense amount of travel with daily group fitness classes. Yoga Instructors as a whole are unpaid. We may teach an hour class, but what a lot of people are unaware of is the countless hours of training and lesson planning that goes behind each offering.
The biggest challenge is usually marketing and getting the word out about events. Once the events take place, students have seen the true value of finding peace and connection through yoga and become repeat customers.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Yoga Paisan – what should we know?
I like to think of Yoga Paisan as a curator of unique offerings that speak to individuals and communities as a whole. My teaching style and classes offer students a holistic experience. From personalized playlists that speak to student’s styles, to specific sequencing to target physical and emotional needs, to working alongside community partners, I love bringing students a whole experience rather than just a class.
I find our their needs. Their pain points–physically and emotionally. Their joys.
I am known for my Mother-Daughter yoga workshops that bring moms + daughters a chance to pause with one another. To connect through yoga. At the end of each class, we close with writing a note to one another. It is an invitation to read the notes at another time together and have yet another moment of connection with one another.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Follow-thru. Arriving on time, ending class on time and valuing client’s time. Being fully present in each of my classes.
Staying true to myself. When I know what aligns with my own style, I can choose gigs and teach in integrity. I am not your average instructor. There are many layers and unique pairings of my style. I am a yogi. A meditator. A mom. A survivor.
