Meet Jade Au of Seed Shack in Gilbert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Au.

Jade and Ting grew up in Hong Kong, a well- known food paradise, especially for it’s widely accessible plant- based options. From dimsum breakfast, English style afternoon tea to the different varieties of oriental street foods, we have developed the taste buds for fusion cuisines, and not too timid to experiment new ingredients combination in our dishes.  Jade experience plant based diet’s benefit to both spiritual and physical health, thus strongly believe veganism is one of the biggest social movement in human history.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all.

Starting, it took us a total of four months to open a door from the date we took over the space. With little experience in the food industry, we encountered some unfortunate situations of committed helps bailed out, or being mislead/ scammed numerous times.

Changed our menu 24th times since opened.

Jade still works a full-time job while running the business.

Seed Shack – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Seed Shack is a mom & pop vegan restaurant drives to promote a friendly, healthy plant-based eating environment for all. We serve a diverse menu comprised of American/Oriental fusion cuisine with seasonal herbs and ingredients. Come try out our house-made juices/smoothies/tea!

We believe the value of a meal doesn’t solely come from its nutritional facts, but the compassionate intention behind the food choice decision.

We are a full-service vegan restaurant. Seed Shack always carries the most trendy vegan ingredients. We are the first full vegan restaurant that carries the Beyond burger, the Impossible Burger, Just Egg Liquid/patties. We veganized some of our hometown’s street food: Bubble waffle/tornado potato/zucchini fries, put fried wonton crispy in American burgers, mixed miso with peanut butter, and put ginger/mint/sambal chili in a strawberry jam…

Vegan food should be both delicious and fun. We focus on creating an experience of “Eat. Chill. Love.”.
“Plant Good Seeds” for the future.

Is there something we can do as a city to improve the outlook for businesses like yours?
Yes, of course! We need more plant-based businesses in the Phoenix metro area. Because the community is small we all support each other.
