Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquette Brown.
Hi Jacquette , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a 43-year-old entrepreneur with two master’s degrees. My first degree is in Forensic Psychology, earned with the aspiration of becoming a forensic psychologist. After working for a child protective agency, I felt called to be more directly involved in the healing process for youth and families, which led me to pursue a second master’s degree in Professional Counseling.
During the pandemic, I made the decision to launch my private practice, uncertain at the time whether I would be considered an essential employee. To my surprise, the practice took off immediately, and from that point forward, I fully committed myself to building and growing my business to meet the needs of the community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Like many entrepreneurial journeys, ours has come with significant challenges and valuable lessons learned through trial and error. We are seeking to build a trustworthy team that share our vision and committed to quality care. Early on, the company was victimized and faced a serious incident of fraud that placed us in a major financial bind, requiring years of hard work and perseverance to recover.
Despite these setbacks, our dedication to our clients and our mission has never wavered. Closing our doors was never an option. Instead, we’ve continued to grow, adapt, and stay focused on the bigger picture—expanding our impact in the community.
One of our long-term goals is the development of Serenity Haven, a tiny home treatment facility designed to support displaced youth aging out of the foster care system. We currently have a GoFundMe campaign set up to help make this vision a reality.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
