Meet Jackilyn Boehme

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackilyn Boehme.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I never really had any hobbies or defining talents growing up. But it wasn’t until I was in high school where I started to feel like I was missing out and I didn’t really fit in anywhere because I wasn’t involved in anything. I hated not having a niche and I hated being surrounded by people who were so successful and accomplishing so many things, and I had absolutely nothing to be proud of or motivate me. I got very depressed and felt so frustrated that I wasn’t “talented”. Mentally, I came to the conclusion that I could either get over that fact, or I could do something about it. I joined our school yearbook staff.

That’s the first time I ever picked up a camera. I put everything into photography and by the time I was a senior in high school I was the editor-in-chief of a nationally ranked award-winning publication, and I was photographing events that were being published in a real product. After high school, I got caught up in college & life, got married, and moved to the Pacific Northwest for a short time. After a few months and more life craziest my husband and I moved back to the valley and I decided to pick up where I left off but this time with videography. In a little over a year, I have developed a full-time videography business and have been able to film 30+ weddings and events. I am so in love with every aspect of this career and everywhere it has taken me.

Please tell us about your art.
I’m a videographer. I get to capture the best moments in life, with the full detail and real-time authenticity that isn’t always 100% seen and felt in a photograph. I film those once-in-a-lifetime moments and do my best to fully capture every emotion during those moments. I’d like to say my goal in filmmaking is to turn memories into movies.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Start where you can and grow from there. My first camera was borrowed and there was minimal editing – due to not having any source of income to support a post-processing software subscription. To this day I still try to budget as best I can but I work within my means. Do I have the best equipment on the market? Absolutely not. But the final product is what really matters and if I can produce quality work with what I have then having the latest and greatest doesn’t matter.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?

    Hi,
My name is Bre and I’m getting married April 20th, 2023 at Tre Bella Mesa Arizona. I’ve been going back and forth on whether to have a videographer at the wedding. I came across your name and looks like the pricing may not be as bad as I thought it would be so I was hoping to get some information from you on pricing.

    Thank you,
    Bre
