Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaci Villalobos.
Hi Jaci, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Growing up my mom used natural remedies with us which always resonated with me. My health journey started at 15 with a diagnosis of ovarian cysts. At 18 I found I had endometriosis, at 19 I found out I had PCOS and would most likely never be able to have kids. The solution to all my womanly “issues” was birth control. Through research, I found birth control made PCOS worse and masked the symptoms.
In 2009 I attended the Southwest Institute of Natural Aesthetics where I learned of the Western Herbalism program at their sister school, SWIHA. At this point I was already deep into learning herbs for women’s health, healing my own body, and helping others around me.
During aesthetics school, I made it my goal to one day attend the Western Herbalism Program. In 2018 I accomplished my goal and graduated from the Western Herbalism program with more knowledge under my belt than I knew what to do with. I was encouraged throughout my program by my mentor and teacher to do clinical work because of my determination, intuition, and curiosity, I was actually told “it would be a shame for my talent to not be used”.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes and no. I had a lot of personal life happen towards the end of my program with the passing of my father somewhat unexpectedly – from diagnosis to passing was 6 weeks. It was a whirlwind, my sister and I took turns being his full-time caretaker while I was still in school and running a business, both full-time.
Three months after my father passed my healthy young husband had a heart attack (the doctors weren’t sure how his heart had no damage from the severity. I credit Hawthorn Berry a heart herb my intuition told me he needed). Both of these events caught me off guard and threw my graduation off slightly but I did it, I graduated!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a holistic aesthetician and certified herbalist, combining aesthetics and herbs redefining women’s self care rituals.
On the aesthetics side I offer full body waxing with some fun other services thrown in. I specialize in sensitive skin with allergies, featuring truly all-natural products with no unnecessary ingredients, and pain-reducing waxing techniques for a relaxing experience.
As an herbalist, I specialize in women’s health, digestive health, anxiety, stress, prenatal, postpartum, ADHD, heart health, MTHFR support, nutrition, and breastfeeding-safe herbs. I offer herbal consultations, follow-ups, and tea brewing with delivery.
More information for both can be found on my website! I handcraft teas, tinctures, capsules, and herbal honey all will be available on my website soon! Despite my specialties, I offer care to everyone and anyone.
For now my aesthetic services are offered at a salon suite located in Central Phoenix and my herbal services are all done remotely. My goal is to have a space by fall/winter to offer both in personal along with facials!
I think what sets me apart is I want to be your cheerleader, I want to be your best friend! There’s no reason you can’t obtain your health goals and live a beautiful life! It breaks my heart when I hear women’s stories and they are just left to figure it out on their own or like they aren’t the expert on their bodies. You know your body best and that is a big part of my care approach.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I can’t do it all and I need to slow down! I used to overextend myself, I would say yes to everything.
Since having my son, and him now being 2, I’ve been living by taking it slow and giving myself grace. I set new timelines for myself to allot for unexpected things that come with a child and I no longer rush making decisions, sharing information, or business-related launches.
