Today we’d like to introduce you to Irayda Flores.
Irayda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Sonora Mexico and I came to Arizona 20 years ago after I graduated from the university (bachelor’s degree in business administration with specializing in finance). I started my business more than 10 years ago, importing seafood from Guaymas, Sonora Mexico (Pacific Ocean) and I do wholesale and retail with retail locations across Arizona. But what people don’t know about my story is that I was struggling for 17 years in getting my green card, I was in a risk that if immigration department denied my case I could be deported, finally I got it last year. Now I’m permanent resident and I feel free to continue growing up on business expanding my seafood chain to another states creating more jobs. I also the founder and first president of the first and the only Hispanic rotary club in USA “Club Rotario de Phoenix” non- profit organization that allows me to create projects in helping my community, I am a member of several business and immigration boards. ABIC , National immigration Forum, I participate in many round tables representing Hispanic Latino business womens and immigrant advocacy. I was invited twice to the White House to represent Latino business and immigrant community. Right now I’m so exited to present my “Bacanora” brand that connect me directly with my roots from where I grew up. “Sutucame Bacanora” it’s a drink that it comes from the agave austufolia has in Sonora Mexico.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
