Meet Inty Allen of Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Inty Allen.

Hi Inty, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Agave Postpartum Wellness began from both professional expertise and personal experience. As a nurse practitioner specializing in postpartum women’s health, I spent years caring for new mothers—supporting their physical recovery, mental health, and breastfeeding journeys. But I also previously lived it myself. After my own postpartum experiences, I saw firsthand how fragmented and limited the system could be when it came to truly comprehensive care for mothers.

I envisioned a place where postpartum women could find everything they needed under one roof—postpartum medical care, primary care, postpartum mental health, lactation support, and a compassionate ear—without having to navigate multiple offices or repeat their story over and over.

What started as an idea to “fill the gap” quickly grew into Agave Postpartum Wellness, a dedicated clinic designed to meet the unique needs of mothers in the critical months after birth. Today, our team works to make every new mother feel seen, heard, and supported, because we believe healthy mothers build healthy families.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all—but every challenge has shaped the clinic into what it is today. Opening Agave Postpartum Wellness meant stepping into a space that didn’t fully exist yet. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” roadmap for creating a postpartum-specific medical practice, so much of it was building from scratch—designing services, educating the community, and finding the right team who shares the same passion.

One of the biggest struggles was breaking through the misconception that postpartum care is just a six-week checkup. Many women (and even some providers) didn’t realize that postpartum mental health, lactation, and physical recovery often require ongoing, specialized care. We’ve also had to navigate the challenges of insurance coverage for these services, all while running a small, patient-centered practice.

Still, each hurdle has reinforced why this work matters. Every time a patient tells us she finally feels heard or supported, it reminds me that the growing pains are worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Agave Postpartum Wellness, I provide comprehensive medical care for women in the postpartum period while also addressing their mental health, physical recovery, and overall well-being. I specialize in postpartum primary care and mental health treatment, helping women navigate conditions like anxiety, depression, and postpartum rage with both clinical expertise and lived experience.

I’m known for creating a safe, non-judgmental space where women feel truly heard and supported—something that’s often missing in traditional healthcare. I take time to connect with my patients, explain the “why” behind symptoms, and provide both immediate relief and long-term strategies.

One of the things I’m most proud of is building a clinic where women don’t have to tell their story over and over to multiple providers—everything from medical care to counseling is available under one roof. What sets me apart is my deep understanding of how physical health, emotional well-being, and life circumstances intersect in the postpartum season, and my ability to bridge those worlds seamlessly for my patients.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most is that new mothers feel seen, supported, and cared for in a way that honors their whole experience—not just their physical recovery. Too often, postpartum women are told to “just focus on the baby,” and their own needs are overlooked. I believe that when a mother is healthy—emotionally, physically, and mentally—it benefits the entire family.

This matters to me because I’ve lived the postpartum journey myself and know how isolating it can be. My work is fueled by the belief that no woman should feel alone or dismissed during one of the most transformative and vulnerable seasons of her life. Every patient I see is a reminder that compassionate, thorough care can change the trajectory of someone’s postpartum experience.
