Meet Hunter Rhoades and Mana Sadat of Baked and Boujee in Surprise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter Rhoades and Mana Sadat.

Hunter and Mana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Baked And Boujee started with intentions to make “macro-friendly” or “healthier” baked goods. Mana and I are both very involved in fitness & proper nutrition, but also have major sweet tooth cravings. We make cookies, brownies, muffins, cupcakes etc. that are lower in sugar, carbs, calories & fats! We offer options such as keto, gluten-free, vegan and dairy-free. However, we also love a good cheat meal which is why we make 1/2 Pound Cookies.

Each cookie is at least 8 oz with an endless list of possible mix-ins. We started Baked And Boujee April of last year (2018) while I was managing a Nutrition store for extra income. So far I have been able to quit working and now do this full time. We have done several events at gyms, markets, grand openings, CrossFit competitions, & more! We are also set up at the Peoria Farmers Market every Saturday. For now, we have an online store & ship all over the U.S.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We started Baked And Boujee when I was in preparation for a bodybuilding competition. Strict diet, nerves high, always hungry, moody. At the same time, I was going through some personal struggles and was living with Mana and her family and this is where Mana played a huge roll in keeping everything together, making sure orders were getting made and going out while I was at work. The other biggest struggle has been trying to finance everything off of the very little money I was making at the Nutrition store after all my bills were paid.

We believe we have the best cookies in the world. They’re baked just enough so they’re firm on the outside and soft like cookie dough on the inside. We offer several different flavors and even accept custom cookie requests. We’re also one of the first companies that will customize any dessert to fit your health needs.

What were you like growing up
I was very active. Sports, outdoors. I was very competitive. I was nice to anyone I met. I was always quick to help someone in need. I always had big goals/dreams. I’ve always worked hard and even started working at 15.
